Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
Happy April everyone! I’ve been spending way too much money lately on books, so I thought I’d share a few of my most recent purchases:
The Last Night at the Star Dome Lounge by M.R. Carey. I can’t remember where I heard about this, but I couldn’t believe there was an M.R. Carey book out there I didn’t know about! This is a gorgeous little hardcover and when you take off the dust jacket, the same design is on the boards.
The Once Yellow House by Gemma Amor. I follow Gemma on Instagram and that’s where I heard about her latest book. This is another beautiful little book with color illustrations inside. I can’t wait to read it!
Monstrilio by Gerardo Sámano Códova. This horror book is getting a lot of great buzz, and I’m eager to check it out at some point.
Upcoming reads & reviews:
I’m excited to share my review of Lone Women tomorrow, this was such a great surprise! I’ll also be reviewing The Scourge Between Stars later in the week, and possibly Death Watch if I can pull off a third review. After that, I feel like catching up with some March books I missed, and Rubicon is at the top of that list.
Other posts this week:
It’s the beginning of the second quarter, so on Tuesday I’ll be sharing my Most Anticipated Books of April, May and June, and I’ll also let you know how I did with my Q1 list. There were so many cover reveals last week, it was hard to pick only three to share on Future Fiction, but stop by on Wednesday to see what I picked:-) I may do a Friday Face-Off to, we’ll see.
In case you missed:
My posts from last week:
What’s On My Plate – April 2023
A House with Good Bones by T. Kingfisher – Review 4.5/5 stars
Hel’s Eight by Stark Holborn – Review 4.5/5 stars
That Carey book comes as an unexpected surprise for me as well, and I have to go and see about it – NOW 😉
Thanks for sharing!

I have no idea how this escaped my radar. It was published last year by a small publisher, but still! Usually my book radar is better, lol.
The picture is beautiful, as always! And I’ll wait for tour review of Rubicon!
Thanks Susy!
I am thinking of putting Lone Woman up on my rotation of books, I need to get it read. I have slacked on my review books this year even after telling myself I wouldn’t do that!!! It’s why I haven’t been getting anything from Netgalley unless it’s a must grab favorite author. I am worried I won’t like it I think that is why, I feel like my mood has shifted a lot with horror. 🙁
Have a great week and happy reading!

I think you might like Lone Women, I thought the history was fascinating. And the horror is great too.
That M.R. Carey looks lovely, Tammy:)). I hope you enjoy it. As ever, the pic is beautiful and I hope you have a good week.
I can’t wait to read it:-) Thank you Sarah, I hope your week is good too:-)
That picture is beautiful! Looks like some good books. I’m trying my hardest not to spend as much as I have been the past few years on books since I am taking my trip this summer. Other than the book convention I went to in February, I think I’m doing a little better, lol. Have a great week!

I’m trying to do better too, but sometimes it’s hard, lol.
Ooh, that M. R. Carey looks interesting! Can’t wait to hear more about it.
I’m definitely reading it this month:-)
I’m really looking forward to your 2nd quarter books you are anticipating. I often find things I should consider. I hope you are getting spring soon.
It was pretty warm today, lots of sun and melting snow, so I think Spring is coming:-)
I hope Scourge was good since I want to read it this week 🙂

I had mixed feelings about it, but it’s getting a lot of love so maybe it was just me.
Once again, I haven’t heard of most of these books in your list. That’s a good thing! I love when a blogger I follow introduces me to other books I haven’t come across. Hope you had a good weekend!
Maybe I can convince you to read some of them:-)
That picture is beautiful!. I been seeing Lone Women on other blogs. It sound interesting.

I’m glad Lone Women is getting some attention, it’s so good.
An M. R. Carey book I haven’t heard of before, can’t wait to see you make of that one.
Have a good week 😀
It’s very short so I’m extra curious:-)
Your husband is truly so gifted Tammy!
Thank you Sophie! I agree, he definitely has a great eye, especially for unusual shots.
That’s a lovely photo and some great book reviews to come! Happy reading, Tammy! 🙂

Thanks Lashaan!
Spending too much money on books? How is that even possible?!?!? 🙂 What an unusual and fantastic photo. That cormorant really stands out nicely against the tree. It’s an odd combination but I like it.
LOL books are the only thing one should be spending money on;-) Thanks Todd!
Ooh, fun book haul! I’m excited to see your thoughts on Death Watch and Rubicon. I can’t believe we’re already done with the first quarter of the year, haha–yikes. Hope you have a great week! Love the photo this week!
Thanks Jordan! Death Watch was super crazy, I need to start writing my review.
It’s wonderful to find a new to you book from a favorite author! I hope you’ll enjoy it.
