Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
I got through another week of working remotely, and it went ok! My daughter went back to Boston and I really miss her. We love cooking together, plus she wants to eat all the things my husband refuses to eat (like dessert!) so I’ll really miss that. It’s very cold in the mountains, but it’s also beautiful, so I’ll survive:-) Let me know how your week went!
Upcoming reads & reviews:
January is shaping up to be such a great reading month! This week, look for reviews of How to Sell a Haunted House and On the Savage Side. Grady Hendrix’s book was a ton of fun, and On the Savage Side nearly broke me, but I expected that from a Tiffany McDaniel book. I’m currently reading Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries and loving it, and after that I’m diving into The Villa.
Other posts this week:
On Tuesday, I’m posting my list of “2022 Regrets,” books I really wanted to read last year but couldn’t get to; Wednesday as usual is Future Fiction, so check back for three new SFF books; and I’ll be showcasing a recent read on The Friday Face-Off.
In case you missed:
My posts from last week:
Episode Thirteen by Craig DiLouie- Review 4.5/5 stars
Most Anticipated Books of 2023 – First Quarter
Lost in the Moment and Found by Seanan McGuire – Review 4/5 stars
All those books look so interesting. Especially Emily Wilde’s Encyclopedia of Faeries.
Have a great week.

Thanks! Emily Wilde is really good:-)
I can understand the difficulties of shifting to remote work, especially if you enjoy the face-to-face. It does require more effort on your part to stay engaged. As with all things, it comes with both pros and cons. Thinking of the cold of the mountains reminds me of that feeling of driving up into Shenandoah National Park and feeling the temperature slowly drop, watching the thermometer in the car as proof it’s not just me. It’s fantastic during the summer, but in winter maybe a little less so. 🙂 Around here the work week was just another typical work week, but yesterday was a great start to the weekend. The weather and the tide of the river both cooperated to let my father and I get some glimpses of a group of wintering over tundra swans. They were further away than I’d have preferred, but I’m still working on getting together a grouping of photos to share. Beautiful birds. I hope this next week goes well for you, Tammy. Very glad to see it’s looking like a great reading month.
When we drive 15 miles to the nearest town, the temperature goes up about 20 degrees, it’s crazy how quickly it changes. I’m glad you were able to see swans, how lovely. I hope you share some photos:-)
It’s been feeling like spring here. Warm days and cool nights, My son and I have been getting outside and taking walks. Been fun.

It sounds like beautiful weather:-)
Remote working must take some getting used to – there are definitely pros and cons. Yes… I’m guessing it must be on the brisk side of freezing up high at this time of year:)). But glad the scenery is such a joy. And yes – I can understand how much you miss your daughter – I’m dreading when my eldest grandson goes off to uni later this year. A wonderful choice of books, as ever. I’m hoping to get hold of a copy of Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries via Netgalley, fingers crossed! And what a dear little bird – with a lovely name. Thank you for sharing and have a great week.
Thank you Sarah! I have my fingers crossed for your NetGalley approval:-)
I’ll be checking back for your Regrets post! One week back in school and I’m already behind on blog commenting again. Ugh. But I’m interested in the Grady Hendrix review as well! Glad your remote working is going well. I hated it when we had to do it for the pandemic, but these days with how kids are I’m kind of wishing I was doing it again, lol. Have a great week!

I really like working remote so far:-)
What’s the temp over there now? Probably way colder than here in Belgium. I’m looking forward to reading your reviews next week, especially How to Sell a Haunted House as you know. 😀

The highs are in the low 40s and going down to the 20s (Fahrenheit) which is MUCH colder than I’m used to, lol.
Can’t wait to see what you thought of the How to Sell a Haunted House book! My first week of January wasn’t the greatest but hoping next week will be better!
Have a great day and happy reading!

I hope your week is better, Stormi!
It’s great you are settling in and adjusting. That colder will be a plus this summer. You can always add a sweater or a pair of warm socks but there’s a limit to the clothes you can remove. lol That said I like the 4 seasons but less freezing temperatures in North Carolina compared to Minnesota. It looks like you are reading more also. Those 2022 Regrets are so real.

Thanks Wendy, you too:-)
Wow Tammy! Soon you’ll be reading nothing but ebooks and converting your home to a smart house! Also, your husband refuses to eat dessert? He um, are you absolutely certain that he’s a good person? Because it sounds… iffy
Ha ha I’ve been wondering about him and his “no dessert” for years:-)
Glad to hear you’re getting settled in at your new place and that remote working is going okay. I’ve been remote working for three years now and love it. I hope you have a great week!
I just love not driving to the office!
Happy new year! It’s tough when the kids leave. I’m glad to hear Encyclopedia of Fairies is good, I want to get that, and the McGuire series too.
Love that pic!

Can’t wait to see your upcoming reviews! Have a great week!
Thanks Lisa, you too:-)
January is definitely off to a great start! I already have three 4.5 or above books. I also just finished the new Grady Hendrix, it was pretty intense!
I have some highly rated books already too. Definitely a good month so far!
Looking forward to yoru reviews this week as I’m curious about the new Grady Hendrix and Emily Wilde (which I love the sound of) 😀
Emily Wilde is so good!
Sounds like you’re settling in well. Remote working can be difficult to get used to at first. I think you miss the interaction but then there are so many bonuses – like no commute (although of course I liked to read during that part of the day).
Your husband is going to be like a photo taking maniac with all that fantastic scenery and wildlife on your doorstep.
Happy reading.
Lynn 😀
There are some things I miss about the office and some things I don’t:-) And yes, he’s already had fun exploring the new area.
I really would love a little bit more pictures of the new house and surroundings in the snow Tammy! The ones you shared had me dreaming! Have a great week!
I work on that, Sophie!
