Over-Booked [169] – A Book Haul Post

Welcome to Over-Booked, where I share my latest and greatest book acquisitions! There is a new blog hosting Stacking the Shelves, so do check out Reading Reality for more information!

This will probably be my last book haul post of the year, which is weird to say out loud! All of these titles come out next year, so we’re looking ahead today.

Physical books for review:

With thanks to Kaye Publicity and 47North, I received a copy of The Foreign Exchange by Veronica G. Henry. This is book two in her Mambo Reina series, but I’ve been told it can be read as a standalone. This is a supernatural mystery surrounding a Vodou priestess!

Huge thanks to Tor Nightfire for a copy of The Scourge Between Stars by Ness Brown. This is a fairly short novella, a sci-fi horror story that’s been on my TBR since it was announced.

More huge thanks to Angry Robot for a copy of World Running Down by Al Hess, a post apocalyptic story with a trans character. I’m very excited for this book, which releases next February:-)

And finally, something a little different. I’ll Stop the World by Lauren Thoman, published by Mindy Kaling’s publishing imprint, Mindy’s Book Studio. This is a timey-wimey mystery/thriller that sounds really good! Big thanks to MB Communications for the review copy.

Digital books for review:

Just a few new eARCs. I was so excited to be (quickly) approved for Sucker by Daniel Hornsby, which I just featured on Future Fiction. Looks like a vampire story, although the word “vampire” is never used in the blurb.

I’ve had The Strange by Nathan Ballingrud on my TBR for quite a while and finally decided to download the eARC. This sounds amazing, just check out the blurb!

The Drift by C.J. Tudor will be my first book by the author. I’ve heard many good things about Tudor’s other books, and this horror/thriller that takes place in a snowstorm sounds like it will be a blast!

Last but not least, I agreed to read Linghun by Ai Jiang, and I simply could not turn down the chance to read this “modern gothic ghost story” by a Chinese-Canadian author. This book doesn’t come out until next April, so I have some time.

Big thanks to Anchor Books, Saga Press, Ballantine Books and Ai Jiang:-D

Do you have any of these on your TBR?

  1. It’s a perfect time of year to read The Drift, at least in some areas, as temperatures drop and perhaps snow begins to fall, as I watch the flakes floating down all over this webpage. πŸ™‚
