The Friday Face-Off was created by Books by Proxy, where each week bloggers can showcase books with covers centered around a weekly theme. You can visit Lynn’s Books for a list of upcoming themes. Join in the fun each Friday by finding a book whose cover is based on the theme!
This week’s theme: Fairy tale
My choice this week is All the Murmuring Bones by A.G. Slatter, a fairy tale-like story I read last year and really enjoyed. I found three covers to compare, take a look:
Titan Books edition, 2021. This is the edition I read, and I love the simple design and the mermaid tail that relates to the magical sea creatures in the story. This is my favorite!
Bulgarian edition 2022. I like this cover as well. It’s a more whimsical depiction of the story elements, and I like that the designer stuck with similar colors to the Titan edition.
Hungarian edition 2022. This is a much darker cover, with the blood in the water giving it an ominous feel. To be honest, I think all three covers work very well for this story.
I like the Titan cover the best, though they’re all nice. The symmetry of the Titan cover appeals to me.
Priscilla Bettis recently posted…Happy Thanksgiving!
I really like that last cover, but you’re right, it gives it a very different and much darker feel.
I’m loving this author’s work and so happy to see the covers here.
Lynn 😀
All covers are pretty great but I really love the Bulgarian edition. It’s gorgeous!
I think my favorite is the Bulgarian. The whimsical definitely calls to me 🙂
I haven’t read the book but the Bulgarian edition is my favorite.
I think I like the Bulgarian cover the most.
