The Friday Face-Off was created by Books by Proxy, where each week bloggers can showcase books with covers centered around a weekly theme. You can visit Lynn’s Books for a list of upcoming themes. Join in the fun each Friday by finding a book whose cover is based on the theme!
This week’s theme: Black cover
I’m picking one of the blackest of covers and one of my favorites: Salem’s Lot by Stephen King. Here’s a selection, I tried to choose black whenever possible:
Signet edition 1976 | Anchor Books 2021 | Anchor Books 2008
Romanian 2007 | Doubleday 1975 | Doubleday 1976
I have to go for the paperback edition, which is the Signet 1976. I have a copy and I’ve always loved the black on black design.
I like the Doubleday 76 version because it’s more like the image in my head when I was reading.

If we want to vote for a black cover, you can’t go more black than that cover, lol!
I also like actually the effect in the Anchor edition 2021 (too bright in the 2008 edition).

Ooo… these are a great set of black covers, Tammy! My favourite is the Doubleday 76 edition as it has a classic horror vibe going on there. I also really like the title font and the way the red pops against the dark background…
Ooh, perfect choice. I really like that Signet edition also, and the Doubleday edition feels really “classic” and fun.
I havet he doubleday 1975 cover and I like it. I also like the doubleday 1976 next too it. 🙂

That black on black design reminds me of a Metallica album with a similar design. I’ve actually not read this one, but it’s on my list of King stories I’d still like to try. I think I did watch a movie, or maybe TV series? Can’t remember for sure.
BLACK! I think my favorite cover out of these is the one from 2008.

My favorite is Doubleday 1976 LOL
I love the Doubleday 1975, it’s so nostalgic!
I like both the Doubleday covers.
This is a great choice and your favourite is so creepy once you zoom in!
