The Friday Face-Off: Good vs. Evil

The Friday Face-Off was created by Books by Proxy, where each week bloggers can showcase books with covers centered around a weekly theme. You can visit Lynn’s Books for a list of upcoming themes. Join in the fun each Friday by finding a book whose cover is based on the theme!

This week’s theme: Good vs. Evil

I’ve selected Fairy Tale by Stephen King for today’s prompt, which I haven’t yet read but hope to soon. King is so good at the “good vs. evil” trope, and I’m hoping this is a good example. There are already five covers on Goodreads, take a look:

U.S. edition 2022 | UK edition 2022

Romanian edition 2022 | Finnish edition 2022

German edition 2022

So not a bad cover in the bunch! I love all of these for various reasons. I love how the spiral motif appears on several covers, and of course I love that Radar the German Shephard is on some of the covers as well. It’s really tough to pick a favorite, but I’m going for the Romanian edition, simply because of the colors and the fact that Radar is a focal point in the art work.

Which cover is your favorite?

I agree! I was surprised how similar they all are, even though they interpret the story a little differently.

I love that Radar is a senior dog (I’ve just barely started reading it). It makes me feel protective of him:-)

  1. I like the first one, the US edition. I’d not really looked closely at it before. I’d thought it was somehow a dragon with all the scales. Didn’t realize they were the stones of a large spiral staircase with a person and a dog on it. 🙂
