Over-Booked [166]

Welcome to Over-Booked, where I share my latest and greatest book acquisitions! There is a new blog hosting Stacking the Shelves, so do check out Reading Reality for more information!

Lots of cool books arrived at the Sparks house these past couple of weeks, take a look:

Physical books for review:

Big shout out to Tor, Orbit/Redhook and Quirk Books for this week’s book haul:-D

First, huge thanks to Tor Nightfire, Tordotcom and Tor for the first three books. I’m so happy to have this lovely finished copy of Lute by Jennifer Thorne. I’m reading this now and loving it so far!

I can’t believe we’re up to book #8 in Seanan McGuire’s Wayward Children series! I can’t wait to read Lost in the Moment and Found, it sounds different from the other books.

I’m very excited to start reading The Witch in the Well by Camilla Bruce. This is another October release I’ll be reading soon:-)

Coming in from Redhook, one of my most anticipated books of 2023, Episode Thirteen by Craig DiLouie. Reality TV meets a haunted house!

And from Orbit, I received a copy of The Magician’s Daughter by H.G. Parry. This historical fantasy sounds amazing:-)

I was very excited to receive this finished copy of Ghost Eaters by Clay McLeod Chapman from Quirk. I loved the story!

Big thanks to Tordotcom for this surprise Halloween package, I was not expecting to get one. It includes a cool tote bag, copies of Leech by Hiron Ennes (which I am still in the middle of!), The Ballad of Black Tom (which I read years ago) and Skeleton Song by Seanan McGuire, which is a bound short story. And some candy!

Digital books for review:

I just featured On the Savage Side by Tiffany McDaniel on this week’s Future Fiction, and I’m thrilled to have an early review copy! Look for a review in December sometime.

After my NetGalley request hanging out forever for How to Sell a Haunted House by Grady Hendrix, a publicist sent me a widget, so I was finally able to download it, yay! I’m excited to see what Hendrix does with the haunted house story.

I don’t think I’ve mentioned Saturnalia by Stephanie Feldman before. I was invited to read this on Edelweiss, and even though it’s an October release and I’m already over-booked for this month, I grabbed it anyway. Just go read the Goodreads description for yourself. It sounds amazing!

And finally, I was offered a copy of Lone Women by Victor LaValle, from a publisher I’ve never worked with before. But I jumped on it because, Victor LaValle! This doesn’t come out until next March, but it sounds so good.

Grateful thanks to Tiffany McDaniel, Berkley, The Unnamed Press and One World:-D

Do any of these look good to you?
