Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
Current California weather: 1/10 do not recommend. Ugh, we’ve had such a long streak of over 100 degree days and there’s no end in sight. I want to get excited about Fall but I can’t even imagine cool weather right now, lol. So yep, I’m inside during this long weekend just reading!
Upcoming reads & reviews:
So my new plan is to get a jump on next month’s releases, so I’ll be interspersing September reads with a few October ones. We’ll see how that goes:-) This week I’ll be sharing two reviews: Gallows Hill which was super creepy! And Southern Fried and Horrified, a memoir by horror writer Ronald Kelly. It’s not my usual type of read, but I’m enjoying the change of pace. After that, depending on my mood, I’d like to start Funeral Girl. And Dowry of Blood will probably be my first October read.
Other posts this week:
I have three cool books to share Wednesday on Future Fiction; The Friday Face-Off is “armor/protection;” and look for a book haul post on Saturday.
I saw a recent video interview with Ronald Kelly. I bet his memoir is fascinating! The Collared Aracari sure is a rainbow of beautiful color!

I loved his memoir! I’ll have to search for some of his interviews:-)
Dowry Blood seems intriguing.

I agree, I can’t wait to try it:-)
Yeah we don’t get to 100 much which is one reason I moved here the small range of temperatures compared to Minnesota. We are now mostly in the 80s but some humid days make the real feel well into the 90s. But it’s September so it won’t last! You are really reading a lot of horror which is not for me. I hope you enjoy them though.

I am reading a lot of horror, I’m not sure how that happened, lol:-)
Well, I hate the idea of being stuck inside because of the heat, but at least you have something enjoyable like reading to occupy your time. Look at the colors on that Aracari! I’ve never heard of the bird. Reminded me of that old Fruit Loops bird. 🙂
That’s what I was thinking too, it looks so much like the Fruit Loops bird:-)
Oh nasty, sorry to hear your weather is so yucky! We had a lot of rain last couple of days and I wish I could send it to you! That bird picture is so cool!!!
Have a great week and happy reading!
Stormi
I’ll definitely take your rain!
Good we have books to bear with the weather, lol.
I’m trying to see what I can do for the upcoming Friday Face-off, not easy

I may skip The Friday Face-Off, I cannot find anything, lol.
Southern Fried and Horrified sounds interesting! Love that action shot of the bird! Have a great week!

Thanks Lisa, you too:-)
Your current read, House of Hunger, seems interesting: vampires in a historical setting. I hope the weather becomes more bearable soon.

Me too! House of Hunger isn’t exactly what I was expecting, but it’s intriguing…
The hot weather can wear you out after a while. I hope you get a cool off soon! I’m looking forward to all the spooky fall reads.
What a beautiful pic!

I know, I just feel like lying around reading all day, lol.
That weather sounds horrible. I read A Dowry of Blood and really liked it. It kind if started a vampire resurgence for me. I finally started the blog back up and hope to be around d more often. At least that’s the plan. Hope it cools down for you soon.
I’m hoping to start Dowry of Blood tomorrow, I can’t wait! And I’m so happy you’re blogging again:-)
Urg! Those temperatures sound awful… We are now a whole lot cooler in the high 60s and low 70s and though it’s a bit humid and sticky – it is just fine. We had a massive thunderstorm last night and it’s been a bit rainy today – but we could do with a lot more, given we’re still in drought conditions. I hope the weather eases up for you very soon, Tammy:).
Ah rain! That sounds wonderful, I’ll take some please;-)
The heat is the worst! I am so ready for the Fall to begin!!
Me too, I’m so over the heat…
Wishing for cooler weather Tammy! And that Aracari is a pure beauty!
Thanks Sophie!
Wish I could send some cooler weather your way. We finally seem to be heading toward some slighter cooler weather and loving it since I don’t do well with extreme heat. Hope you have a great week!
I loved A Dowry of Blood, I’m so glad Orbit is re-publishing and getting more people to read it. I agree, this weather sucks right now. My dog loves the cold, but still wants to just lay and bake in the sun–and of course I have to be the bad guy and tell him it’s not safe to lay in the sun when it’s this hot, lol. Hope you have a great week and manage to stay nice and cool! 🙂
I am really loving the Collared Aracari! So beautiful, and pretty cute. There’s so much beautiful wildlife in Central America, I’d love to visit one day.

I’d love to get a jump on this month’s releases but I still have August books to catch up with, oops!
I’m looking forward to Dowry of Blood so fingers crossed for that.
I love that photo – absolutely love it.
