What’s On My Plate – September 2022

Happy September, everyone! Looking over my September TBR, I have a LOT of horror titles on my plate. I expect publishers are leading up to spooky October with all these releases, and I’m not complaining:-) Here are the books I hope to read this month:

Ghost Eaters by Clay McLeod Chapman is a story about a pill that makes you see ghosts. How cool is that?? I’ve had great fun with Clay’s other books, and I have no doubt this will be fun as well.

House of Hunger by Alexis Henderson. This vampire (?) story sounds delightfully bloody and creepy, I can’t wait.

Full Immersion by Gemma Amor sounds like it’s got some triggers, but I’m very excited to dive into this psychological horror story.

How about some Gothic horror? Let’s try Gallows Hill by Darcy Coates. A cursed vineyard and a crumbling mansion? Yes please:-)

One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig. More Gothic horror! I have a couple of YA reads this month and this is one of them. It’s getting good reviews so far, I’m excited!

Funeral Girl by Emma K. Ohland was a spur of the moment request on NetGalley (I really need to stop doing that, lol), but I have high hopes for this one. I’m totally in the mood for a good ghost story and this sounds fantastic.

Leech by Hiron Ennes. Oh wow, more Gothic goodness! Leech sounds so good, and seems to be a nice blend of genres.

Signal to Noise by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. This is a reprint of an earlier novel of Silvia’s, one I’ve always wanted to read. I’m glad now I’ll be “pushed” to read it:-)

I’m really looking forward to Always the First to Die by R.J. Jacobs, a fun sounding horror thriller with slasher elements.

And last but not least, Titan Books is re-releasing Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke by Eric LaRocca. This will be my third LaRocca and I usually approach their books with a mix of excitement and dread, lol.

Do we share any September books? What are your most anticipated reads of the month?

  1. You have such a good lineup! I’m hoping to read Leech, Full Immersion, and Gallows Hill. And The Hollow Kind by Davidson. My TBR has gotten huge again. I’m not sure if I’ll get to any of them this month!

  2. I was just thinking whether I might try to find some horror to read over the next couple months. Not sure if I’ll actually manage, but glad to see you have some lined up. 🙂

  3. Love all those horror titles 😀 Looking forward to your thoughts on House of Hunger, it’s one I’ve seen mentioned a lot lately and sounds like something I might enjoy.
