The Friday Face-Off: Green Cover

The Friday Face-Off was created by Books by Proxy, where each week bloggers can showcase books with covers centered around a weekly theme. You can visit Lynn’s Books for a list of upcoming themes. Join in the fun each Friday by finding a book whose cover is based on the theme!

This week’s theme: A green cover.

There are so many choices for the prompt this week, but I decided to go with a green cover that holds a special place in my heart: Hollow Kingdom by Kira Jane Buxton. I could only find three different covers, so it should be fairly easy to choose a favorite, right?

2019 Grand Central Publishing edition. This is the cover I own, so like I said, it automatically holds a special place for me. Two of my very favorite animal characters in publishing are front and center on this cover: S.T. the crow and Dennis the bloodhound. This is my favorite of the three covers.

2021 Serbian edition. I love that this cover is also green, and it’s a good one too, with S.T. filling up most of the space.

2021 Romanian edition. And another green cover! Clearly I chose the right book;-) I love this one too. The U.S. is still my favorite because of all the details, but the other two aren’t bad!

Which cover is your favorite? Have you read Hollow Kingdom?

  1. What a wonderful choice for this week’s theme. I’m looking forward to getting well enough to be able to take part in the Friday Face-off again! My favourite is the Serbian cover, as the dramatic mid-flight wing detail of the crow is the one I kept going back to. Thank you for sharing!
