The Friday Face-Off: Steampunk

The Friday Face-Off was created by Books by Proxy, where each week bloggers can showcase books with covers centered around a weekly theme. You can visit Lynn’s Books for a list of upcoming themes. Join in the fun each Friday by finding a book whose cover is based on the theme!

This week’s theme: Steampunk

There are lots of great choices this week! I’m looking forward to checking out everyone’s Friday Face-Off posts:-) I decided to go with The Clockwork Dynasty by Daniel H. Wilson. I only found three covers but I think they are all worthy! Take a look:

U.S. hardcover, Doubleday edition 2017. This cover screams “steampunk,” and I love the whole idea of the old fashioned typewriter and the clockwork heart in the middle. This is my favorite.

Vintage paperback 2018. I love this too! The clockwork eye is really cool, and I love the font and the overall design of this cover.

German edition 2019. Another really good cover! I love the motion of the running figure and the glimpse of steampunk gears, suggesting the character is part machine. Honestly, this is a tough week. I like all three covers, although the Doubleday cover just edges out the others.

Which cover do you like best?

  1. I completely agree with Priscilla, the text inside the gears that then look like typwriter keys are perfect and really draw me to the US hardcover edition.
