Buffy’s Corner 1/2/22 – Looking at the Week Ahead

Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D

Time for a fresh start! Welcome to my first weekly “looking ahead” post of 2022. I’m ready to put the holidays behind me and get back to my normal routine, though. It was fun, but exhausting. This week’s hubby photo was taken during our road trip up to the desert during Christmas. I hope everyone had a lovely and safe New Year’s Day!

Here’s what’s happening on the blog this week (and I’m back to posting reviews after a very nice break in December!):

Upcoming reviews:

We’ll kick off the month with a couple of January reviews. On Monday, I’ll be reviewing Where the Drowned Girls Go, the seventh book in Seanan McGuire’s very popular Wayward Children series. And on Thursday, it’s my review of In Every Generation, a new Buffy-verse novel that I found to be a mixed bag. Very mixed. Ha ha.

Upcoming reads:

I’m currently in the middle of two books. Well, I’m about a hundred pages into The Starless Crown, and it’s good so far! I’m almost finished with The Wakening, a very good possession story. I’m hoping to get these both reviewed next week, we’ll see how that goes. Next up, I think I’ll start Such a Pretty Smile, which I’m excited about.

Other posts this week:

On Tuesday, I’m kicking off the year with my Most Anticipated Books of the First Quarter, 2022. Wednesday is my usual Future Fiction, the Friday Face-Off is “Favorite book of 2021” and I will be sharing my latest book haul on Saturday.

In case you missed:

It was a busy week last week, here are my posts if you missed any:

  1. Happy New Year Tammy. Sounds like you had a lovely December – it’s nice to have a little break from the norm – and now back to business.
Hope 2022 is a lovely year for you.
I love the moody wind turbine picture.
    Lynn 😀

Hope 2022 brings… better than the last two years of 2020! lol

I’m glad to hear you are starting the year out strong! …mostly. Personally I’ve just read and reviewed one of the worst books I’ve ever finished. But hey, it’s all uphill from that;)

  3. I like the idea of a fresh start, but I have to admit I’m not nearly ready to move on from the holidays and return to my normal routine as that means going back to work…. 🙂 Storms can look so dynamic and impactful when presented in black and white. And all those wind turbines make for an interesting photo. Love it!

  4. I’ve heard a lot of complaints about In Every Generation. Why would an established author basically write bad (or disrespectful) fan fiction is beyond me.

    Happy new year!

    • Tammy

I’m glad I’m not the only one complaining! It just makes me wonder if she even watched the show…

  5. Nice beginning of 2022!
Will be a busy blogging week for me as well, with posting all my 2021 stats, it’s Bout of Books Week, also posting the 2 challenges I’ll do this year, Top Ten on Tuesday, and Friday Face Off as well. Looking forward to your posts

  6. I agree about getting back to a routine! It’s nice to feel a bit free sometimes, but boy do I need structure, haha. Very excited to see your review for Where the Drowned Girls Go! I’m glad you’re enjoying The Starless Crown–it’s making me want to go ahead and give it a second go. The Wakening sounds good, too. Hope you have a great first week of the year!

  7. Nice picture!

Where The drowned Girls Go sounds amazing to me. I really want to start that series (and the fact that they’re novellas helps). I love too how Mira Grant/ McGuire writes so MUCH.

    • Tammy

She really is so prolific! She also has a novel coming out this year that I’m very excited for.

  8. Happy New Year, Tammy! I hear you on getting back to a normal routine. I’m ready for it too. Oh goodness, you’re reminding me that I have still yet to start that Wayward Children series even though I have the first 5 books on my kindle, lol.
