The Friday Face-Off: All Things Fire/Red Cover

The Friday Face-Off was created by Books by Proxy, where each week bloggers can showcase books with covers centered around a weekly theme. You can visit Lynn’s Books for a list of upcoming themes. Join in the fun each Friday by finding a book whose cover is based on the theme!

This week’s theme: All things fire/red cover

I went back a few years for my pick this week: We Sold Our Souls by Grady Hendrix, one of my very favorite of his books. I found four covers to compare, take a look:

Quirk Books hardcover edition – U.S. 2018 | Quirk Books paperback edition 2019

Polish edition 2020 | French edition 2020

I really like the first two Quirk covers, but I love the tongue in cheek approach to the Quirk paperback edition the most, which takes the music theme of the story and makes the cover look like a rock magazine. For that reason, I’ll pick it as my favorite!

Have you read this book? Which cover is your favorite?

  1. My favorite is the original hardcover, but I do love how Quirk books always does this whole meta thing with his covers – IKEA catalogue, 80s VHS, rock magazines, etc. They’re all so clever!
