Buffy’s Corner 10/17/21 – Looking at the Week Ahead

Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D

Well, I finally had my eye surgery on Friday! I’m so happy to have that behind me. It went well and from what I can tell so far, it worked. I had strabismus surgery which corrects the alignment of the eyes. I’ve been seeing double for years now, and my brain learned to adjust to that, but my special glasses with prisms in them had stopped working. I’m feeling OK, ad the recovery is supposed to be only days, so as far as surgeries go, it was pretty low stress. My eyes are quite scratchy at the moment, so I’m not sure how much reading I’ll get done this week, but we’ll see how it goes.

Hope everyone is doing well, and I hope you all have fantastic weeks!

Upcoming reviews:

I’m currently reading The Warrior Poet and hope to have a review up this week. I love being back in Sharon’s Faery Rehistory world! This story centers around time/dimensional travel and it’s a lot of fun so far. Next, I’m hoping to jump into Nightwatch on the Hinterlands, which comes out this week.

Upcoming reads:

Not sure what I’ll get through this week, but these three are on my radar to read next. Flowers for The Sea is short, so that should be easy to fit in. Slewfoot is a hangover from last month, so I really need to read it soon. And These Silent Woods should be a nice change from the SFF I’ve been reading. I’m looking forward to this mystery/thriller!

Other posts:

The only posts I have planned this week (other than reviews) are Future Fiction on Wednesday and The Friday Face-Off, which is “Queen in the title.”

In case you missed:

My posts from last week:

As far as my reading goes, Summer Sons was a big miss for me, but Comfort Me With Apples and Nothing But Blackened Teeth both worked well:

Summer Sons by Lee Mandelo – Review 2/5 stars

The Friday Face-Off: Your Favorite Book of Magic

Comfort Me With Apples by Catherynne M. Valente – Review 4.5/5 stars

Future Fiction #146

Creatures of the Night Book Tag

Nothing But Blackened Teeth by Cassandra Khaw – Review 4/5 stars

  1. I hope your eye heals quickly and that your vision will be double-less in the future! I haven’t read any of the Faery Rehistory series so I’ll have to take a look at that. I love the pelican photo.

I hope you’re able to do some reading this week, Tammy.

  2. I’m very happy to hear your surgery is behind you now, and even more so that it went well. I wouldn’t blame you at all for taking it easy this week and just letting the eyes recover. The books will still be there when you’re ready for them. 🙂

So far I’m very glad I did it, it’s definitely made driving and watching movies/TV much better!

  3. I’m really glad to hear your surgery went well. Wishing you a speedy recovery and lots of great reads this week. I love the details in your hubby’s photo. It’s such a crisp shot that I can count the bird’s feathers.

  4. Will

Glad your surgery went well! Now that you’re not seeing double anymore you can enjoy that excellent photo of a single bird in flight that your husband took

It’s really impressive that you’ve been reading for years while seeing double! I hope reading retains the same joy even now that everything just happens once

  5. I am so curious about Slewfoot! I’ve been bummed because my library doesn’t have any copies yet, but hopefully I can grab a copy somehow sometime. 🙂 These Silent Woods was a great story, I really enjoyed it. I hope you enjoy all of your reading this week!

  6. Pleased to read your surgery went well. Having an eye op is such a scary thing isn’t it. Hope the recovery goes well.
Happy reading when your eyes feel less irritated.
    Lynn 😀
