A small but mighty book haul this week, take a look:
Physical books for review:
Plague Birds by Jason Sanford. I’m thrilled to have this beautiful copy, courtesy of the lovely folks at Apex Books! Plague Birds is out already so I’m a little behind, but I will be making time for it this month.
I’m also very happy to have a finished copy of Nothing But Blackened Teeth by Cassandra Khaw. I’ve already read this and wow it’s very strange and creepy! Look for my review next week. Big thank you to Tor Nightfire!
And two lovely surprises arrived this week. First, I couldn’t be more excited for a finished copy of Nightwatch on the Hinterlands by K. Eason. I have not received a physical copy from Penguin Random House since Covid started, so I was so excited when this showed up! You may remember my glowing reviews of the Rory Thorne books, and this is set in the same world but far in the future. Big thanks to DAW Books!
And finally, I’m super happy to have a copy of Swashbucklers by Dan Hanks. I remember requesting this but I had completely forgotten about it, lol, so it was great to see it show up unexpectedly. This comes out in less than a month so I’ll be reading it very soon. Huge thanks to Angry Robot!
Digital books for review:
Just two new digital titles this week. First, Mickey7 by Edward Ashton is a book I’m already planning to talk about next month for Sci-Fi Month, and now I’m happy to have a review copy! This is a space adventure about colonizing a new planet, and it sounds really good.
Also, I was approved for Simone St. James’ next thriller, The Book of Cold Cases. I’m very excited to try this author, I know lots of readers who loved her last book!
Big thanks to St. Martin’s Press and Berkley Books:-D
I got Mickey7 too!! Can’t wait to see what you think/thought of it! Swashbucklers too:) I’m not a huge Dan Hanks fan so I skipped this one, and so I’m not sure whether I want you to tell me I need to read it or I need to skip it, but I look forward to your verdict all the same!
I haven’t read Dan Hanks before, but Swashbucklers is getting some good early reviews.
I can’t wait to read The Book of Cold Cases. Happy reading!
Thanks Lauren!
Most of these are new to me and I don’t think I’ve tried anything by any of the authors. Can’t wait to see which you end up reading.
Me too! I hope I read all of them:-)
These look great! (weaning myself off TV watching so I have more time to read books!)
Ha ha I know what you mean!
I’m also reading the Cold Cases.
Anne – Books of My Heart recently posted… The Stolen Hours by Allen Eskens
I hope we both enjoy it:-)
OMG so excited you got the new Simone St. James! I’m waiting for the audio ALC but I really hope we’ll both enjoy it. Her Sun Down Motel was sooo good.
I missed Sundown Motel so I knew I wanted to read her next one!
So many fascinating books to look forward to! Hope you enjoy these. Nothing But Blackened Teeth is the one that has intrigued me the most for its cover especially hahah Happy reading!

I know, that cover is so creepy, right?
Swashbucklers looks super interesting. Now that’s a cover I am judging!

It’s a great cover, right? I hope the book is good too.
Plague Birds looks good! I’ll be watching for your review. I also like the cover of Swashbucklers. So can’t wait to hear what you think of it. Great books this week!

Thanks Lisa, I can’t wait to read them:-)
I love the look of the Simone St. James – I also bought a copy of her Motel book so I should really try and read that one because everyone seemed to love it.
