Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
It felt like a really long week for me, for some reason. Work is really busy right now, and I have a feeling next week will be more of the same. Luckily, here in the U.S. we’re celebrating Labor Day on Monday, so it’s a three day weekend for a lot of us, me included. Parts of the country have been hard hit by hurricanes and bad storms, so if you’ve been affected, I hope you’re doing ok!
A couple of weeks ago, I was excited to see the Sci Fi Month 2021 announcement! If you don’t know about it, Sci Fi Month lasts the entire month of November, and is a fun and social event to celebrate all things sci-fi! Hosted by imyril and Lisa, it’s a ton of fun, and everyone is welcome to join. I know it’s a few months away, but I’m already making plans and reading lists, believe it or not. Check out the link for more info!
Upcoming reviews:
It should be easy to get three reviews up this week, since Monday is a holiday and I have extra time to blog! Tomorrow I’ll be (finally) posting my review of My Heart is a Chainsaw. I’m still formulating my thoughts, but I struggled a little to get into it. Although the last quarter was crazy good! Also look for reviews of Mastermind and Light Chaser this week.
Upcoming reads:
I’m still trying to catch up with some August review books (I’m looking at you, Revelator!), but I also need to dive into some September releases. Human Tenderloin is a book I accepted for review directly from the author, and I’d like to get a review up on its release date, 9/16. The Body Scout sounds like a ton of fun, and In the Watchful City is a novella from my August pile that I didn’t get to, so hopefully I can squeeze it in this week.
Other posts:
It’s a review heavy week, but of course I’ll be posting three new books for Future Fiction on Wednesday, The Friday Face-Off is “kings/rulers,” and look for a book haul post on Saturday.
In case you missed:
Last week’s posts:
The Friday Face-Off: Detective/Noir
Blog Tour Review: The Offset by Calder Szewczak
What’s On My Plate – September 2021
The Strange Thing We Become and Other Dark Tales by Eric LaRocca – Review 4.5/5 stars
An Ibis and a Munia in golden light.
I struggled with the middle of My Heart Is a Chainsaw, but overall it’s a good story. I think it’d make a fun movie, which makes me chuckle considering the plot. Happy Labor Day weekend . . . an extra day of reading!

As I was writing my review, I realized I enjoyed it more than I thought, lol. It dragged sometimes but the good parts were so good!
It has been a long week, with little time and no energy to do much. But the weekend has started out well, and like you, I hope to make it a 3 day. I just received an ebook of The Body Scout yesterday so I’m hoping that’s a good one. And Mastermind is one I’m sure to read at some point. Beautiful Ibis and Munia, I don’t believe I’ve photographed either.
I hope we both enjoy The Body Scout, have a great weekend Todd!
I had little energy this whole week, so I get what you mean by a long week! I did get some good progress with my reading but everything else? Not so much? Haha. Had no idea about SciFiMonth btw! Sounds really cool, so I’ll definitely check it out!

I’ve been so busy this week I haven’t been able to go look and read anyone’s reviews and you’ve had a few books I need to check out. Hope you have a good week!

I am very much looking forward to this three day weekend. Work has been very busy for me as well. I hope things start to calm down for you on that front. The Body Scout does sound like a lot of fun! I hope you enjoy your reading and have a great week, Tammy.
Thank you Wendy, I hope you enjoy your weekend too!
It sure has been a strange week. Scifi month sounds like fun! I’ll have to see if it lines up with my reading. And double birbs this week? You spoil us. <3

I couldn’t choose between those photos, I love them both:-)
I couldn’t help myself and picked up Mastermind, ended up knocking it out in about a day. So wild! Glad to see the author get back into over-the-top territory with Theo Cray 😀
I’m about to finish it, tons of fun!
I hope you can make the most of this four-day workweek! Stay safe and happy reading! 😀

Work is kicking my butt right now too so I hear you on it feeling like a long week. Really hoping this short week helps to reset things with me a bit. I’m looking forward to your review of Mastermind. I’ve seen a few good reviews for that one so am definitely curious to hear your thoughts on it.
I’m just happy this is a short week!
Hope you had a good three day weekend.
Lynn 😀
