Over-Booked [142] – A Book Haul Post

Welcome to Over-Booked, where I share my latest and greatest book acquisitions! There is a new blog hosting Stacking the Shelves, so do check out Reading Reality for more information!

Lots of new additions to the TBR this week, let’s jump right in!

Physical books for review:

Huge thanks to Orbit for the first two ARCs, both of which I’m really looking forward to. First, The Seven Visitations of Sydney Burgess by Andy Marino is a horror thriller that sounds really twisty! And Blood of the Chosen by Django Wexler is book two in his Burningblade & Silvereye series. I had a bunch of fun with the first book, so I can’t wait to dive into this one.

And Tor has been very generous lately, so big thanks to them for these next three books! First, The Justice in Revenge by Ryan Van Loan is the second book in the series after The Sin in the Steel, which I haven’t read yet but hope to at some point.

From Tor.com, I’m thrilled to have a copy of A Marvellous Light by Freya Marske. When I saw the cover reveal for this book, I knew I wanted to read it! I was also send a copy of Along the Saltwise Sea by A. Deborah Baker (Seanan McGuire), which is book two in her The Up-and-Under series. I enjoyed the first book, Over the Woodward Wall, but it is geared more towards middle grade readers, so it’s not really my thing. But I’ll definitely read the sequel since I have a copy now.

Digital books for review:

I’m glad I was finally approved for Christina Henry’s next book, Horseman. Should be fun!

I was excited to be approved for Nightwatch on the Hinterlands by K. Eason, a book I featured recently on Future Fiction.

And I’m deep into Seanan McGuire’s Wayward Children series, so of course I’m going to read book #7, Where the Drowned Girls Go! This one is a return to Cora’s story, and I can’t wait.

Cold the Night, Fast the Wolves by Meg Long is a book I haven’t talked about yet. It nearly got a Future Fiction spot but then got bumped for something else, lol. This is a rare YA for me, but I think it sounds amazing!

I was excited to get a download widget for The Paradox Hotel by Rob Hart, since I had a lot of fun with Hart’s last book, The Warehouse.

I’m also looking forward to Gallant by Victoria Schwab. I’m always going to try her new books, even though they don’t always work for me.

Trashlands by Alison Stine is a recent discovery, and it sounded so good that I immediately requested it on NetGalley (and was approved right away!).

Finally, I had the opportunity to download The Orphan Witch by Paige Crutcher, which I’ve seen some readers compare to Alice Hoffman. Now I have to try it!

Big thanks to Berkley, DAW Books, Tor.com, Wednesday Books, Ballantine Books, Greenwillow Books, St. Martin’s Griffin and Mira.

Are you planning on reading any of these?

I didn’t know that! I’ll see how much time I end up having. There are other books that will take priority this month for sure:-)

  1. Well I’m off to see about pretty much the entire digital stack. A few there catching my eye. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on some of these if you get around to them, particularly Orphan Witch and Horseman.

  2. Quite a mix here. Though there’s nothing specific in the batch I’m looking forward to, I do look forward to your thoughts on any you read. 🙂

  3. EEek, I’m looking forward to Blood of the Chosen too, was so excited when that arrived! I actually immediately thought of you when I saw the new Rob Hart on NetGalley, I know how much you liked his previous work!

  4. I like the look of that Cold the Night, even though it’s YA which I tend to avoid. I’d also like the Schwab.
    Lynn 😀
