The Friday Face-Off: Wicked Grin

The Friday Face-Off was created by Books by Proxy, where each week bloggers can showcase books with covers centered around a weekly theme. You can visit Lynn’s Books for a list of upcoming themes. Join in the fun each Friday by finding a book whose cover is based on the theme!

This week’s theme: A wicked grin.

The first two books I thought of for this theme, The Shining and It, are books I’ve already used on other Friday Face-Offs, so I had to do a bit of brainstorming. I decided to go with Krampus by Brom, but there are only two covers, so this will be a side-by-side comparison:

HarperVoyager edition, 2012. Not sure if he’s actually grinning, but let’s go with it! I love this cover, it’s so disturbing, right? That tongue alone is going to give me nightmares… I like the way the lower half of the cover looks like ice or snow, since this is a story centered around Christmas.

German edition 2013.Β  Now this is a wicked grin! LOL. I really love both covers, so it’s hard to pick a favorite, but this wins by a hair because you get to see more of the Yule Lord’s scary body. I haven’t read this book but seeing these covers makes me want to!

Which cover do you like best? Have you read Krampus?

  1. Omg this is perfection. I’d probably go with the second, it really is a wicked grin – but then again that first cover is just terrifying!

  2. I really enjoyed this book, it was a lot more fun than I thought it’d be. And it has me wanting to read more of his stuff. As for covers, I go with the first one.
