Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
Last Sunday for Father’s Day, we took my hubby out to dinner, and for the first time since March of 2020, we ate inside without masks and social distancing. It was such a surreal experience! Not sure I’m ready to do it again any time soon, but it was nice to experience the good old days, lol. And the big news in our family is that my oldest, who just graduated from college a few months ago, got a job with a small local game design company as a programmer! I couldn’t be more excited and proud:-D
Upcoming reviews:
Last week I only got one review up—boo! But I’ll try to make up for it next month. Tomorrow look for my review of To Dust You Shall Return. Wow, this book was extremely violent, more than I expected, even though I’ve read this author before. But I loved it! (What does that say about me?) I’ll explain all in my review. And I’m finally finishing up For the Wolf, which I stalled on and set aside, but I’m pushing through and should be finished soon. It’s a pretty post-heavy week, with the new month and everything, so I’ll probably post my review on Saturday.
Upcoming reads:
My 4th of July weekend read is going to be The Book of Accidents, I so excited to dive in! And I have some June books I’m going to try to squeeze in, even though we’ll be into July by the time I post reviews. The Witness for the Dead and Moon Lake are two I’d love to cross off my list.
Other posts:
On Tuesday, I’m excited to post my Most Anticipated Books of 2021 – Third Quarter! On Wednesday I have three cover reveals to share on Future Fiction, Thursday is July 1st (can you believe it?) and I’ll be unveiling my special month-long feature, Horror in July, and The Friday Face-Off is “landscape.”
In case you missed:
Here are my posts from last week:

Well done to your oldest! Also, wow for the dragon fly photo.
I’m looking forward to your review of Witness for the Dead.
Stay cool if you can. In a reversal of the usual weather, we were cooler than Portland today, at a mere 105, and will probably be a couple degrees cooler tomorrow at a forecasted 111. Whee! This may finally be the year to purchase A/C.
Wow, good luck with the heat and take care!
Yay, congrats to your son on his new job! LOVE the dragonfly photo! I have (wonderful) out of town guests, so I’m a little jealous that you have reading time at all, enjoy.:-)

I’m on a horror kick now so I’m going to take advantage of that:-)
Horror in July! Sounds fun and delightfully chilling – which, given the rising temperatures, might be a blessing! 🙂
Looking forward to it!

Thanks Maddalena, it should be fun:-)
I can’t wait to see what you do in July!
I’m looking forward to lots of horror reads:-)
Oooh! Congrats to your oldest, that is so cool! Would you believe I’ve never read a Chuck Wendig book? I can’t. Followed him for years, I should fix that at some point. And looking forward to Horror in July! Can’t wait to see what you’ve got cooked up for us.

Ooh you should read Chuck Wendig for sure!
I feel you about eating in public – I’m going on a roadtrip with some (fully vaccinated) family members in a week and I am just bracing for the weirdness after the year we’ve had. Enjoy your week in reading!

Yay for your eldest. Your husband really takes some great photos. I am going in spurts with reading. It took me the whole week to read a 240 page book which I would usually read in a night. But my audio listening is gangbusters between projects, walks with Lulu and chores.

I wish I could make time for audio books, I know I’d get a lot more reading in:-)
Congratulations to your son!!! And that dragonfly is gorgeous. Also going to the restaurant inside without masks etc would feel weird! They are reopening here as well!
Thank you!
What a week! Congrats to the new programmer. It’s a great experience when you get so into the code you’re working that the rest of the world just fades away, leaving you completely in the zone. I miss those days. I’m both excited and terrified to see what you bring us in July… And I absolutely love that dragonfly. It’s been ages since I tried photographing dragonfly’s in flight. It can be so much fun but also such a challenge. Congrats to Moses for a very successful shot!
Thanks Todd! I love close up photos like this, I’m always amazed at all the small details:-)
Man, that dragon fly photo is awesome!!! I am now more curious about The Wolf Within if you stalled on it, might be a good thing I never asked to review it…lol.
Ha ha I will let you know soon:-) Thanks Stormi!
I’m reading Witness for the Dead this week too! Trying to get through my last two June books before July kicks in!
It’s always a panic at the end of the month, right?
Looking forward to your review of For the Wolf, and I wonder if you had the same issues I had that made you stall! I also just finished Witness for the Dead and enjoyed it a lot – not surprised, since it’s a mystery fantasy!
I stopped reading For the Wolf and now I have to figure out what’s happened and try to pick it up again, lol.
I’m especially curious to hear your thoughts on For the Wolf and The Book of Accidents! Horror in July sounds very promising as well. 🙂

I’m diving into For the Wolf tonight and hoping it grabs me!
That’s awesome news about your eldest! I wish them all the success in their new job.
Yes, going inside without masks is definitely very weird! It takes some getting used to and sometimes I still put mine on even if not required because it feels almost like a safety blanket at this point.
Hope you are doing well, Tammy! Sorry it has been so long since I stopped by.
Great to hear from you, Lisa! I agree, masks are almost comforting at this point.
It’s so strange, I feel like we’ve been in a weird alternate universe for such a long time now, distancing, being anti-social and isolating – I kind of feel odd about any plans to go out now and almost afraid to be in a carefree none restricted type situation. It’s crazy how quickly your mindset changes and adapts.
Well done to your son – you must be so proud and indescribably happy.
I love the photo – but then that was par for the course wasn’t it!
Lynn 😀
It’s a very strange thing, I’ve come to hate being around people, lol. Hopefully I’ll get over it at some point!
Congrats to your son on what sounds like a great new job! I haven’t tried a Chuck Wendig book yet but hope to read Wanderers this summer if I can fit it in.
