Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
I just realized I forgot to include a hubby animal photo last week, so I have a pretty good one for you at the end of this post! Hope everyone in the U.S. is enjoying a long, three day weekend! I’ll be spending a lot of time reading, I hope, and of course the traditional barbeque on Monday. Whatever you end up doing, I hope you get some reading in, too:-)
Upcoming reviews:
I’ll probably only get one review up this week, and that’s going to be Jade City, which I’m thoroughly enjoying at the moment. I was hoping to post one more fantasy review this month for Wyrd and Wonder, but I don’t think that’s going to happen, since I only have one day left. My next book after that will be Adrift, but you may not see a review up until next week. I guess we’ll see how things go!
Upcoming reads:
I fell like I’m perpetually behind, which is why I still haven’t read We Are Satellites from my May pile. And The Chosen and the Beautiful is a June 1st release, so I’d love to read that next.
This week’s posts:
Tomorrow is my wrap up post for Wyrd & Wonder, and I’m running an international giveaway! One winner will get a fantasy book of their choice (pre-orders count too). Don’t miss it! Tuesday is June 1st and that means I’ll be sharing my reading & blogging plans for June in What’s On My Plate. Wednesday I’ve got some very exciting cover reveals to share with you on Future Fiction, and the Friday Face-Off is “nose boop.”
In case you missed…
Here are my posts from last week:
Day Zero by C. Robert Cargill – Review 5/5 stars
The Shadow of the Gods by John Gwynne – Review 4.5/5 stars
I can’t wait to hear your thoughts about Adrift: for me it was the most adrenaline-infused Donovan book so far – and that’s saying a LOT! 😉
And I love that picture: it’s a very dramatic, life&death moment in nature, but also quite beautiful…

I’m on chapter 6 or 7 in Adrift (which isn’t very far since there are almost 100 chapters, lol) but already I can tell it’s going to be a wild ride!
“wild” is just the tip of the iceberg…. Happy reading! 🙂

Have a great week and happy reading!

Week in Review
Thanks Stormi, you too!
As always I’m excited for your upcoming reviews and reads, Tammy! Also what a fantastic shot your husband took. Wow! 😀
Thanks Stephanie!
Love the fish! Who won?

Ha ha it’s hard to tell from the photo, right? 😉
WOW that picture!!! Perfect timing! And enjoy your weekend and tomorrow’s barbecue!
Thanks Sophie!
I looking forward to your thoughts on the Pinsker book as I have been considering it. I hope you get to relax, read, enjoy your weekend and bbq.

Thanks Anne, I hope you get to enjoy Memorial Day as well:-)
The Donovan series is already up to book five and it seems not that long ago I saw book one on here. Still haven’t tried the series. Another great photo from your husband! I love the colors on cormorants. They almost seen unreal sometimes. And what a fish, looks like the one that first started walking on land so very long ago. 🙂
Ha ha I love that fish too! I guess it’s in the catfish family, which makes sense. And yes, the Donovan series is cranking along, I think he’s been publishing one a year, so I guess I started it four or so years ago. Time flies, right??
The Chosen & the Beautiful is one of my upcoming reads, either this week or next. I hope we both enjoy! I do want to read the Satellites book too, but I have so much else to catch up on first…
Catching up is so hard! Good luck to both of us:-)
I am constantly blown away by your husband’s photography! What a great shot. I’m anxious to read your review of Jade City. It’s one of the many books in my TBR pile.
Thank you Laurie! Jade City was awesome:-)
I’m glad you’re loving Jade City – can’t wait to see your review!
I just finished it and loved it! Review coming later this week:-)
Love the picture! Aside from the great pose, I didn’t know the insides of cormorant mouths were blue, lol. I’m also looking forward to your review of Adrift. I’m going to be hitting that one up early next month too, after W&W I’m going to be stacking the sci-fi that I’ve pushed back!
Isn’t that cool? My husband said the same thing, he had never seen that blue mouth before. And yes, lots of sci fi coming for me as well:-)
Such a fantastic photo! I love how you can even see the water droplets captured in midair as they come off the fish. Good luck catching up on all of your reading. I’m behind with my June 1 ARCs too. I still have 5 of them to review and 2 of them I haven’t even read yet. Oops, lol.

Yeah, I have four June 1st books, lol. I’m reading one now but I probably won’t post a review for it until next week. Sigh.
Your husband’s nature photography is always in a class of its own – but this week’s offering is absolutely fantastic. Thank you for sharing! I look forward to hearing your thoughts on We Are Satellites – I thoroughly enjoyed it, though it wasn’t exactly what I was expecting. I hope the coming week is a good one for you, Tammy:)).
Thank you Sarah! I really love this photo too. I am definitely going to read We Are Satellites, even though I am moving on to June books starting this week:-)
Wow that photo! Lucky shot to capture that moment.
It was luck and probably just waiting quietly until it happened:-)
Wow, what a photo!!
Thanks Caroline! He got lucky with that one, although what I should say is that he is a very skilled photographer and that’s how he got the shot 😉 (which is true)
I am also so behind on books thanks to a bout of vertigo at the end of the month. I need to go check out your reviews that I’ve missed! I did end up recommending a book series to my uncle based on a review post you did earlier, the Dan Stout series. I actually even found the very first book at the outlet mall in Branson and I bought it for him! Hope you’re having a good week!
