Welcome to Future Fiction, my reimagining of the Waiting on Wednesday meme! There are so many amazing new books coming out, that I can no longer pick just one. My goal with Future Fiction is to share at least three new books each week, a combination of recent cover reveals and books that I’ve recently added to my TBR pile. I’m still going to be linking up with Wishful Endings/Can’t Wait Wednesday, and I also want to give a shout out to Jill at Breaking the Spine for starting the original Waiting on Wednesday meme. I hope you’ll find some new books to add to your TBR piles, and as always, I look forward to hearing what YOU’RE looking forward to:-D
Three awesome covers were revealed this past week, take a look:
Inspired by the traditional murder ballad “The Twa Sisters”, set against the rich backdrop of ancient Britian, Sistersong is a dark and lyrical tale of siblings and sorcery from a spellbinding new voice.
In the ancient kingdom of Dumnonia, there is old magic to be found in the whisper of the wind, the roots of the trees, the curl of the grass. King Cador knew this once, but now the land has turned from him, calling instead to his three children. Riva can cure others, but can’t seem to heal her own deep scars. Keyne battles to be seen for who he truly is—the king’s son. And Sinne dreams of seeing the world, of finding love and adventure.
All three fear a life of confinement within the walls of the hold, their people’s last bastion of strength against the invading Saxons. However, change comes on the day ash falls from the sky. It brings with it Myrdhin, meddler and magician. And Tristan, a warrior whose secrets will tear them apart.
Riva, Keyne and Sinne—three sisters entangled in a web of treachery and heartbreak, who must fight to forge their own paths.
Sistersong by Lucy Holland. Releases in October 2021 from Redhook. Redhook never disappoints, and I’m really looking forward to this fantasy. I believe this has already been published in the UK with a different cover, so good news for us U.S. folks, it won’t be too long before it comes out here! The blurb says fans of Circe will enjoy this:-D
The squad you love is out of time. Prepare for the thrilling finale in the epic, best-selling Aurora Cycle series about a band of unlikely heroes who just might be the galaxy’s last hope for survival.
Is this the end?
What happens when you ask a bunch of losers, discipline cases, and misfits to save the galaxy from an ancient evil? The ancient evil wins, of course.
Wait. . . . Not. So. Fast.
When we last saw Squad 312, they working together seamlessly (aka, freaking out) as an intergalactic battle raged and an ancient superweapon threatened to obliterate Earth. Everything went horribly wrong, naturally.
But as it turns out, not all endings are endings, and the te4am has one last chance to rewrite thirs. Maybe two. It’s complicated.
Cue Zila, Fin, and Scarlett (and MAGELLAN!): making friends, making enemies, and making history? Sure, no problem
Cue Tyler, Kal, and Auri: uniting with two of the galaxy’s most hated villains? Um, okay. That, too.
Actually saving the galaxy, though?
Now that will take a miracle.
Aurora’s End (The Aurora Cycle #3) by Jay Kristoff & Amie Kaufman. Releases in November 2021 from Knopf Books for Young Readers. OK so technically I’m behind with this series and still haven’t read Aurora Burning, but I wanted to share the cover anyway. I really like this cover, it’s Fin who is one of my favorite characters. Are you reading this series?
After a brutal war between the gods, Hessa – High Priestess of the Eangen – has brokered a fragile peace. Through great sacrifice, she has forged an alliance between warring tribes and introduced her people to the true god.
But a new threat is growing across the southern border. In the remnants of the once-great Arpa Empire, three factions are vying for the imperial throne, and the vast well of raw magical power only accessible to the Arpa Emperor. Already beating back former Arpa legionaries at her borders, Hessa knows she cannot let this chance slip by. She must intervene, for the safety of her people.
With the peace she has sacrificed so much for at stake, Hessa must venture into the heart of enemy territory, where warring Arpa factions are not the only danger she must face. A sinister new cult is on the rise, one with the power to suck the life from everything it touches. With enemies on every side and her fragile alliance beginning to waver, Hessa must decide who to trust – no matter what it may cost her…
Temple of No God (Hall of Smoke #2) by H.M. Long. Releases in January 2022 from Titan Books. I believe this is the first 2022 book I’ve featured! I really enjoyed Hall of Smoke earlier in the year, and wow what do you think of this cover?
I’m intrigued by all three, but I admit that the last cover is particularly fascinating!
I agree, I love that huge moth and I want to know what it is!
The Kaufman/Kristoff trilogy is one of my most “wanted” stories but I still have to add it to my TBR: at least it’s good to know that once I do I will have all three books ready with no waiting time between! 🙂

It is nice to have a completed series ready to binge read:-)
As ever, you have a knack for featuring awesome books:)). The last one, in particular, is calling to me, but I’m so horribly behind with my arc reads, I think I need to rein in my grabby hands and catch up!
Ha ha so hard to ignore the new books, isn’t it?
I don’t understand if Keyne is a sister or a brother in Sistersong, but that’s okay . . . I’ll just have to read the book if I want to find out!

Keyne sounds like he’s trans. It should be interesting!
Sistersong sounds like right up my alley! I still haven’t started The Aurora Cycle *sob* And the cover of Temple of No God is really beautiful!

It’s so hard to keep up with all the series!!
I love the sound of Temple of No God and the cover is excellent but alas, I haven’t read the first book.
Lynn 😀
It is such a good cover:-)
I’m very curious about Sistersong. I’ve never heard of “The Twa Sisters”, but talk of ancient Britain, sorcery and warriors, old magic, yeah, I’m interested. I hadn’t thought of Circe… I wonder if it includes beings from mythology.
I’m not sure but it’s definitely worth considering:-)
All of these are great covers! And the second one reminds me I still need to finish the Illumunae Files series! Thanks for visiting my Wednesday post earlier!

Thanks for visiting, Lisa!
Sistersong is going to be a must-read for me! (Like you, I think Redhook’s books are consistently amazing.) The cover of Temple of No God is gorgeous!!
I’m so intrigued by Sistersong! And the UK cover is really good too.
Ooh, I actually like the US cover for Sistersong as well! It’s so hit or miss sometimes, haha.
I stopped reading the Aurora Cycle after the first one because I wasn’t really feeling it, but sometimes I want to pick it up again when I see how much fun everyone else is having with them, haha.

I had fun with that first Aurora Cycle book, but I just never had time to read the second book.
That Temple of No God cover is lush! I’m intrigued by Sistersong too, I’ve been listening to a load of the History of England podcast lately and just finished with the Anglo-Saxon period, which has me hankering for more of the time period.
That podcast sounds good, I’ll have to look into it:-)
All great covers and even better sounding books! I am especially drawn to Sistersong. It sounds awesome. I hope you get a chance to read all of these, Tammy! Have a great day and happy reading!
Thank you Wendy! You too:-)
I’m so excited for Aurora’s End. I hope you enjoy book 2 of the series when you get there.
I may binge books two and three once Aurora’s end is out:-)
These are not my cup of tea but hope you enjoy them!!! 🙂
Me too, I have a pretty good feeling about April.
I still need to read Aurora Burning too but that finale sounds pretty fabulous!
It does, I think it will be fun to binge the last two books:-)
I had Lucy Holland’s book on my watchlist, but the UK version so I was glad to hear Redhook was picking it up! I’m also behind on the Aurora series 🙁

I read a really good review for Sistersong today, so I’m really interested now:-)
So I haven’t read the Aurora Rising books at all but I own both of the first two and I tell you, the cover of this third one is enough to push me into picking them up. I don’t know why I love that cover so much but I do. He looks so mischievous.
I love all the covers, and maybe you can binge read the series:-)
I didn’t expect Aurora’s End to get such a creepy cover design! They all look fantastic nonetheless! Thanks for sharing, Tammy! 😀
