Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
I hope everyone who celebrates had a lovely Thanksgiving holiday! I absolutely loved having four days off work and no cooking responsibilities, since we didn’t have our usual get together. And now the rush to get ready for Christmas begins, which always feels like a race once Thanksgiving is over.
Today I have to give a shout out to my daughter who has just produced her first single! I hope this is only the first of many more. I’m embedding the YouTube video here, but if you click this link you can purchase the song and help support a starving artist! Ha ha not really, I would never let her starve:-D Here’s the song, called Admit It.
I’m so freaking proud!! Next week I’ll have info on my hubby’s photo book, but I figured you could only take so much of the Sparks family in one post, lol.
Upcoming reviews:
I was really hoping to get one more science fiction review in for SciFiMonth, but my reading plans were stalled when I started reading Nophek Gloss. I’m really struggling with this one, mostly due to the very odd writing style. I decided to set it aside and pick up a book I knew would be more of a fun read (I guess that’s what I need right now), and as of writing this post, I’m about halfway through This Is Not the Jess Show, which is a bunch of fun. Look for a review of that one on Thursday, and tomorrow I’ll be posting my review of Eight Cylinders, which was also fun and very short. I am going to try again with Nophek Gloss, and if all goes well I’ll try to get a review up next weekend.
Upcoming reads:
If I make it through Nophek Gloss, I think my next read will be The Ghost Dance Judgement by R.S. Belcher. I really want to get this in by the end of the year, because any R.S. Belcher book I read often shows up on my “best of the year” lists. Next I’ll tackle one of the three December 1st releases I have for review, We Hear Voices.
The usual memes…
On Tuesday, I’ll be posting my blogging plans for December in What’s On My Plate. Wednesday we’re back to ALL genres once more in Future Fiction (SciFIMonth was fun, but I do have some really good fantasy/horror to share), and the Friday Face-Off theme is “fae.”
#SciFiMonth Wrap Up & Giveaway!
Tomorrow is the last day of SciFiMonth 2020, and I’ll be bringing you my wrap up, including links to all the posts I did for this fun event. It’s my tradition to host a giveaway as well, so don’t forget to stop by and enter! Two international winners will be selected, and they will get to pick ANY SF book I talked about during the event.
In case you missed…
Check out my posts from last week:
Self Published Sci-Fi Saturday #4
The Friday Face-Off: Modern Sci Fi
Call of the Bone Ships by R.J. Barker – Review 5/5 stars
The Rush’s Edge by Ginger Smith – Review 3/5 stars
Congratulations! The music isn’t really my kinda thing, but I wish her the best of luck! And I hope you get to Ghost Dance Judgment soon so you can finish it soon and let us know how it was soon. But I suppose I’ll settle for knowing how Nophek Glass was, if you can get into that first.
She definitely has a jazz vibe going on:-) I’m debating letting Nophek Gloss coast for a while and read Ghost Dance Judgement first. Not sure what to do!
WOW! Artistic inclinations run quite strong in your family! (and if this sounds like a terrible Star Wars misquote, well, it is 😀 )
You have every reason to be proud of your daughter!

Thanks Heather! Hope you have a great week too:-)
I think I will check out We Hear Voices too…I feel like December is when I can read all the stuff I missed without any pressure for deadlines.
I think We Hear Voices was actually moved from earlier in the year, so it works out pretty well for me as a December release.
Wow, your daughter is so talented, Tammy! That’s a really grooving song. 🙂
We hear voices sounds really intriguing, looking forward to your thoughts on that one.
Thanks Lisa! I am excited to dive into We Hear Voices:-)
Congratulations to your daughter!! She has a beautiful voice!!
And I am sorry you are having some difficulty with Nophek Gloss!
Thanks Susy:-) I’m going to try Nophek Gloss again, hopefully I’ll have better luck.
It does have a jazz vibe and I really enjoyed her voice! Congrats! I spy a couple of books I want to check out. I keep coming across reviews for We Hear Voices.

Huge congrats to your daughter for her new songs, it’s awesome! That’s such an amazing accomplishment and I bet you are so proud. Excited to hear about your husband photo book too, your family is busy! 🙂 I’ve been planning to pick up Nophek Gloss, though I am definitely very hesitant. Really intrigued by The Ghost Dance Judgement, though!
Thanks Jordan!
OMG I love her voice. I’ll be sure to purchase a copy this week. It’s just the type of music I love. Tell her she has a fan already! Such a talented family. We had a low-key holiday too and it was really nice for a change. We’re all kind of learning to slow down aren’t we. Hope you have a great week now off to check out your Jason Parent review!
Thanks Barb! She will be excited to hear I convinced a blogging friend to buy her song!
WOW! Sincerely Tammy, I don’t say it to please you but your daughter is really talented! Congratulations! It seems you are a very creative family.
