Best Sci-Fi of 2020 So Far – The “5 Star Books in 5 Words” Edition #SciFiMonth

ARTWORK by Tithi Luadthong from 123RF.com

I’ve waited all month to bring you this list, and it’s finally here: my favorite science fiction reads of 2020 so far! Keep in mind that I still have some SF reads planned between now and the end of the year, so these are my favorites that I’ve read up to this point. I’m also going to describe each one in 5 words, and although technically not all of these are five star books (some are 4.5 stars), you get the idea:-D I also just happened to read the first two books in two different series this year, and all four books made it onto this list!  Clicking on the titles will take you to my reviews. Let’s get started!

1. The Phlebotomist by Chris Panatier

Dystopian * Blood * Twist * Thriller * Emotional

2. & 3. The Book of Koli & The Trials of Koli by M.R. Carey

Tech * Killer trees * Found family * Emotional * Mystery

4. & 5. The Bond & The Hive Queen by Robin Kirk

Unique * Thought-provoking * Dog companion * Dystopian * Emotional

6. Stormblood by Jeremy Szal

Cyberpunk * Aliens * Action-packed * Emotional * Humorous

7. The Queen’s Road by R.S. Belcher

Aliens * Fast cars * Action-packed * Humorous * All the feels

8. Random Sh*t Flying Through the Air by Jackson Ford

Earthquakes * Psychokinesis * Over-the-top * Snarky * Humorous

9. Unreconciled by W. Michael Gear

Cannibals * Killer critters * Danger * Colonization * Thrilling

10. The God Game by Danny Tobey

High stakes * Dark web * VR game * Over-the-top * Fast-paced

Did you happen to notice how many times I described my favorites as “humorous” or “emotional”? What do you think of my list? Have you read any of these?
