The Friday Face-Off: Spider Web

The Friday Face-Off was created by Books by Proxy, where each week bloggers can showcase books with covers centered around a weekly theme. You can visit Lynn’s Books for a list of upcoming themes. Join in the fun each Friday by finding a book whose cover is based on the theme!

This week’s theme: “Farewell, Aragog, king of the arachnids, whose long and faithful friendship those who knew you would never forget!” – A cover with a spider’s web.

I honestly couldn’t think of a book I’ve read to feature this week, so I’m highlighting a book I haven’t read, Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman. There are quite a few covers, lots of them with spider webs, take a look:

U.S. paperback edition 2006 | U.S. Hardcover 2005 | Kindle edition 2010

UK paperback edition 2006 | Polish edition 2017 | German edition 2007

UK Illustrated edition 2016 | Ukrainian edition 2019 | Croatian edition 2011

Turkish edition 2013 | Portuguese edition 2012 | Russian edition 2017

Creepiest cover award goes to….the Russians! Ha ha. I can’t even look at that one. For some reason, I’m more drawn to the covers with figures on them, rather than spiders and webs. I think my favorite is the Croatian edition, it looks so magical!

Which one do you like best?
