Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
Oh there is so much we could talk about today, but let’s not, OK? Instead, let’s talk about books! Also, the hubby visited the Los Angeles Zoo last week (open by appointment only) and took some AMAZING animal photos. I swear he’s getting better and better. Here are four close up shots that I really love:
Which one is your favorite? Mine is the elephant:-D
Upcoming reviews:
To make up for only posting one review last week, I’m going to try for three this week! On Monday, stop by and see me gush about The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Scwab. Spoiler: It was fabulous. On Thursday I’ll post my review of Over the Woodward Wall by A. Deborah Baker, and check back Saturday for my review of Pete Mesling’s short horror story collection Jagged Edges & Moving Parts. I’m way behind on review books so I’ll be doing some catching up this month.
Upcoming reads:
This week’s reads all match and I swear I didn’t plan that! As we speak, I am reading The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow. I’m loving it already! Up next will be The Raven Lady by Sharon Lynn Fisher. I’m trying to get a review up during its release week, and I’m working on a guest post with Sharon as well. After that, I might be able to fit in something short, so I’ll probably pick up Ring Shout by P. Djèlí Clark, a novella I’ve been dying to start.
The usual memes…
I don’t usually put up two posts on one day (I don’t like to do it unless absolutely necessary), but Tuesday I plan on participating in Top Ten Tuesday which is “Fall Colors,” and I’ll do anything with covers/colors. I’m also going to be posting my Most Anticipated Books of the 4th Quarter, in which I look at the books I’m most excited about that are coming out through the end of 2020. And if you’re curious to see how I did with my 3rd quarter reading, you should stop by and find out! Wednesday I’ll highlight three new books for Future Fiction, and the Friday Face-Off this week is “Mist/Fog.”
In case you missed…
Miss any of my posts last week? Here’s your chance to catch up.

It was so good!
Oh my god, I love the elephant picture that your husband made. They’re my favorite animals! And I’m looking forward to your review of The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue!

I agree, that elephant photo has a lot of personality, right?
Love that giraffe photo! My review of Over the Woodward Wall will be up very soon as well. 🙂
I’ll make sure to stop by and read your review:-)
My favorite photo is either the flamingo or the elephant, something about those single eyes. And I can’t wait to read your thoughts on The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue and The Once and Future Witches, both books I very much want to read.

I like the eye close ups as well:-)
I love the Elephant! Huge fan of Elephants anyway but that is a great pic, though they all are pretty cool! I feel so behind I still need to get my post for 4th quarter up, where did the year go!
Have a great week and happy reading!
Stormi
That’s what I was thinking, “Where did the year go??”
Your husband is an amazing photographer. I loved looking at the animals eyes and their faces. The elephant and giraffe are my favorites. You’re reading some good books, Tammy, which is great. Hope you have a great week!
Thanks Jan! Hope you have a great week as well:-)
If you had not specified that the first picture was of an elephant, I might have mistaken it for a close-up on a dragon’s eye!
But maybe it’s because I read too much fantasy…. 😉

I suppose that photo is up for interpretation;-)
Excellent photos, I’m partial to giraffes myself 🙂
I’ve just added The Once and Future Witches to my wishlist so I’m glad to hear it’s going well for you.
Wishing you a great reading week

Thanks Shelleyrae, I hope you have a nice week as well:-)
I love the photos. We went to the zoo when my daughter was almost 2 and again when she was about 4 and it was such a good time. Oh the days when we could travel. We are huge fans of the zoo.
Thanks for sharing all your interesting books. I can’t fit them all in because I read so many genres but I love seeing and reading some of them. Have a wonderful week!
It’s been years since I’ve been to the zoo but I have good memories of going when my kids were little:-)
Addie LaRue was such a good read! Starting Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse this week, I’ve been looking forward to it for a while.
I hope you love Black Sun! I have a few books I need to read before I get to it, but I can’t wait.
Excellent photos, I love the Gorilla one!
I’m about 8% in to Once and Future Witches, I’m enjoying it too, I love the descriptions of the world all ready and the three sisters are definitely very different to another. I hope the rest of the book continues to be good.
Have a lovely week.

I’m about as far as you are, Heather. And I can tell I”m going to enjoy it:-)
Lovely pictures! I love the emphasis on the eyes. 🙂 And the flamingo one is excellent. I have a thing for flamingoes anyway, they’re awesome! 🙂
Hope your week gets off to a good start!

I so love your hubs “eyes” shot! He is so talented! Have a good week Tammy!
Thanks Sophie, you too:-)
Your hubby’s animal pics are gorgeous! And I’m glad to hearing you’re enjoying Alix Harrow’s latest. I’m hoping to start that one in a couple of days and I’m really excited for it.
Thanks Suzanne!
Such beautiful photos–giraffes are one of my favorite animals, so I’m extremely partial to the giraffe! Very curious to hear your thoughts on Ring Shout! I feel I haven’t heard much about it, but it seems so intriguing. I hope you have a fantastic week!
My fav is the elephant too, and I like the giraffe’s expression.
I love the elephant photo. Maybe wish thinking on my part but that eye seems to convey such a lot of feeling.
Lynn 😀
That’s pretty damn cool that the zoo is open by appt! To have the animals to yourself with less people around? Now that’s a zoo visit I’m all for. I hope your week has been going well, Tammy!
