Ten New Additions to my Goodreads TBR

I’m linking up with Top Ten Tuesday. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. Check out upcoming Top Ten themes on Jana’s blog!

Today is a “freebie” on Top Ten Tuesday, and because I’ve been adding tons of new books to my Goodreads “to read” shelf, I thought I list ten of them here. These are books I want to share but aren’t necessarily slated to appear on my Future Fiction posts. Some I’ve discovered through other bloggers, and some I’ve found by searching catalogs on Edelweiss. All of these are on my radar and sound promising! (Click on titles to read the full Goodreads description)

The Fall of Koli by M.R. Carey. This is actually already on my radar, but it just recently went up on Goodreads, so I’m listing it here today. This is the third book in Carey’s Rampart Trilogy, and it will be out next March, after the second book in the series comes out this Fall, The Trials of Koli.

House of Hollow by Krystal Sutherland. It was the strange cover that caught my attention, but the story sounds right up my alley as well.

Empire of Wild by Cherie Dimaline. Thanks to Jordan for putting this on my radar! Jordan mentioned a comparison to The Only Good Indians, so of course I immediately added this book. Dimaline is an indigenous author as well, and this appears to be a werewolf story.

The Unbroken by C.L. Clark. Political/military fantasy are necessarily my favorite subgenres, which is why I’m cautiously looking forward to this. But what a gorgeous cover, right?

Persephone Station by Stina Leicht. I’m getting Firefly vibes from this book! The cover makes it look like a graphic novel, but I don’t think it is. Space opera/space western mash up, from what I can gather, and I’m intrigued!

The Infinity Courts by Akemi Dawn Bowman. Bowman has quite a few well-known books under her belt, and her next book sounds really good. A girl dies and wakes up in a weird sort of afterlife, where an Alexa-like AI has taken over.

Machinehood by S.B. Divya. This sounds like an interesting science fiction thriller with plenty of food for thought. I haven’t yet read Divya, but I’m very curious about this book.

Echo by Thomas Olde Heuvelt. This isn’t the cover of the edition I’m excited about, but I wanted to show it anyway, as a placeholder. Tor’s new Nightfire imprint is bringing this book to the U.S. next Fall (right now it’s only available in Germany), and don’t worry, I’m sure I’ll mention it again when it gets a new cover:-D

A Universe of Wishes edited by Dhonielle Clayton. I think this cover is so pretty, and it sounds like an interesting collection of YA short stories. These are all #ownvoices authors and I’m curious to learn more.

A Beautiful Poison by Lydia Kang. I recently read and reviewed Opium and Absinthe by Kang, and I was so impressed with her combination of history and mystery, that I thought I’d add one of her backlist books to my reading list.

Are you excited to read any of these books?

I know!! I don’t like the word “fall” in the same sentence as “Koli.” We shall see…

  1. And in one fell swoop, Tammy adds yet more books to my TBR! Your description of Persephone Station sounds amazing and I’ve been tiptoeing round buying The Book of Koli… I fear I may just have to read them all!

  2. I just added Empire of Wild to my TBR too! I’m always looking for an obscure werewolf story, those are my jam. And oooooooh that’s great news about Echo! I’ve been hoping for a US publisher. Admittedly, I still need to read Hex though. 🙂

  3. Some great books here and I had already planned in featuring Empire of the Wild and House of Hollow on upcoming Can’t Wait Wednesday features. I bet there are some real hidden gems here. I’ve already had Echo on my wishlist for months but did see Tor acquired it and are planning a new cover of Hex as well. The only problem is that is a mighty long wait!

Ohhh, what great picks, Tammy — and can I just say, I can’t take my eyes of Persephone Station’s cover! And now you have me wishing so much it actually does have a Firefly vibe!

  5. I can definitely see why the cover for House of Hollow caught your eye as it’s instantly left me intrigued too. I’ve opened it, and a couple of the others, on Goodreads to check out myself. And I’m so happy to hear you enjoyed Opium & Absinthe as it’s on my physical tbr. I couldnt resist getting a copy when it promised vampires, a historical setting and had such a stunning cover

  6. Some lovely looking books on here to look forward to. And a Thomas Olde Heuvelt – I will definitely keep an eye out for that one.
    Lynn 😀
