This week’s theme: “Thus with a kiss I die.” – A romantic cover
I went back and forth with this week’s theme, I just couldn’t figure out which direction to take. I changed my mind at least three times. But I finally settled on a book with an unusual love story that I read years ago, Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood. I wouldn’t say the covers are romantic, but I think it works for Valentine’s Day. Also bonus, it has a ton of cool covers, so I’ve chosen my favorites to highlight today. Take a look:
U.S. hardcover edition 2003 | Anchor Books edition 2004 | Finish edition 2010
Hungarian edition 2019 | Croatian 2015 | Danish edition 2011
German edition 2003 | French edition 2007 | Romanian edition 2008
Greek edition 2014 | Portuguese 2018 | Swedish edition 2004
Turkish edition 2018 | Virago edition 2010 | Seal Books edition 2004
I knew immediately when I saw this cover that it would end up being my favorite, although I love a LOT of these. But I love the weird image and the simplicity of the Hungarian cover:
A lot of these covers are really great! It’s actually hard to pick a favorite even. But I gotta go with the Virago edition 2010 because of the bunny. ๐

So many choices! I like the Turkish edition because the graphic quality caught my eye.

So many covers! Who knew. I’ve never read this one but for some reason, the Anchor one is really jumping out at me.
I LOVE that you chose Oryx & Crake for this. I really love the original US hardcover edition, but I also like the one you chose.
It’s indeed a weird cover, but in a good way, and I think it mirrors the weirdness of the story itself, so… great choice! ๐

I owned this book many years ago but never actually got round to reading it and I don’t think I even have a copy now! I like your choice, in fact I like quite a few of these. I particularly like the Anchor and Swedish covers.

Lol… what a delightfully quirky choice for this week, Tammy:)). My favourite is the German cover, because it is just so darned pretty! Which – as I recall – doesn’t exactly chime with the content of the book…
This has so many great covers – I think my favorite is the 2015 Croatian cover.

Great choice, and I agree, a ton of cool covers! I really like the German 2002 edition.
I love Margaret Atwood but actually haven’t read this book yet. I love the covers though, especially the Finnish & the Hungarian.
Wow, these are all so different! I’m sort of curious now which one represents the content better, maybe? Or do they all? Even curioser, since they all feel like they could belong to different books. I think the Finnish edition is my favorite. I can’t even tell you why. It’s just lovely and catches my eye the best.
I recently got his book the US hardcover edition n the middle ๐ All these covers are SO PRETTY I want to cry! ๐ Your post makes me want to run home and read it RIGHT NOW ๐

I’ve heard good things about this book, but I don’t really like any of the covers? They just don’t do it for me haha. Tho if I had to pick I would pick Finish edition 2010
So part of what drew me to this book was the cover. (Hoping I can make time for it soon!) I think my favorite is the Anchor Books 2004 edition. I just love the colors and the lushness of the leaves.
Yeah, that book is WEIRD. Loved it though! It has a ton of interesting covers too.
