January seemed to go by in a flash, and here we are already in February. And I have a LOT of potential reads this month, although I will not be able to get to all of these.
This month my Book Review Giveaway is back, and you’ll be able to choose from both the December and January books I reviewed, so check back here on February 15. And I’ll probably have two winners this month:-D Otherwise, let’s get right to the books I hope to read this month (in no particular order):
The Unspoken Name by A.K. Larkwood. I’m so excited to finally read this, I feel like I’ve had an ARC for months. There are already lots of rave reviews for this book!
The Wolf of Oren-Yaro by K.S. Villoso. And here’s another ARC that’s been waiting patiently for me to get to it.
Moontangled by Stephanie Burgis. I’ve already read this short novella, and it was a delight! I’m always excited to read something by Stephanie Burgis because she injects so much sparkling magic into her stories. My review will be up next week:-D
Upright Women Wanted by Sarah Gailey. I’ve already read this as well and I LOVED it. It just struck all the right chords with me, for some reason. Queer wild west librarians, gun fights, horses, goose bump-inducing romance and lots more. Gailey’s writing is stunning, I know I’m going to include quotes in my review and it’s going to be hard to choose!
Master of Sorrows by Justin T. Call. I’ve heard rave reviews about this book (do you sense a pattern here?) and I’m very much looking forward to seeing if I agree with them.
Mazes of Power by Juliette Wade. This is my current read and wow, I wasn’t sure about this when I picked it up, but it’s sucked me in! A unique futuristic setting with shades of East Indian culture that revolves around caste systems and complex political structures. Hopefully it will continue to be good!
Bent Heavens by Daniel Kraus. This sounds like a fantastic horror/sci-fi mash-up, and I can’t wait to get to it! Lots of good reviews are up already on Goodreads.
A Witch in Time by Constance Sayers. I’ve had really good luck with Redhook books, and I’m always up for a story with witches.
Voodoo Shanghai by Kristi Charish. I have to admit I’m behind on this series, so I’m also trying to read the second book in the series, Lipstick Voodoo, as well. We shall see how that goes!
The Shadow Saint by Gareth Hanrahan. I just recently received my review copy of this book, so I haven’t had time to dig in, even though this was a January release. I’ve been reading some good reviews, though, so I’m looking forward to it!
Foul is Fair by Hannah Capin. This was one of those spur of the moment NetGalley requests a few months ago, but now I’m realizing this isn’t a top priority for me this month. So we’ll just have to see how my reading time goes. Unfortunately, it may fall by the wayside.
The Boatman’s Daughter by Andy Davidson. This book, on the other hand, is going to be a priority since I’m determined to read something by Davidson!
Untamed Shore by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. Likewise, I’m super excited to start Moreno-Garcia’s coming-of-age mystery set in Baja California.
Black Leviathan by Bernd Perplies. This came unsolicited from Tor Books, but I’m hoping to squeeze it in this month. It’s not being released until the end of February so I’ll concentrate on some of my other books first.
Untamed Shore and The Unspoken Name are two I hope to get to soon as well. And I hope The Wolf of Oren-Yaro is good, it’s one I’ve been considering . Good luck with the TBR!

Thanks Acqua!
I hope to read The Boatman’s Daughter this month, too! I also just picked up a nonfiction book (boring, but trying to expand my mind) and one of Michaelbrent Collings’ many thrillers.

I hope we are both able to squeeze in The Boatman’s Daughter. I really have high hopes for it:-)
I just got approved for The Unspoken Name and I am soooo looking forward to it! I really hope to read it in February!
Cool, congrats! I hope you love it:-)
The Wolf of Oren-Yaro and Upright Women Wanted are both on my radar too. Hopefully I’ll get to at least one of them.

I hope you get to read them, Upright Women is fairly short:-)
So many of these look fantastic. Happy reading!
Thanks Lauren:-)
I look forward to your review of Upright Women Wanted. It just sounds like such a fun book.
It really surprised me:-)
I have Black Leviathan, too! I cannot wait! The synopsis is good, and what a cool cover!
It’s such a cool cover, right?
I love it. Hope the story is just as good. Guess we will find out soon.
Master of Shadows and The Shadow Saint are both on my wish list right now. All of these look fantastic though.
I hope you are able to read them:-)
Lot of good reads! I’ve got 100 pages left on Oren-yaro, enjoying it pretty well! I’m planing on tackling Master of Sorrows next.

I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Oren Yaro. Lots of good epic fantasy to choose from this month:-)
Currently reading The Shadow Saint and can’t wait to share my thoughts on it once I’m done! Hope you enjoy it when you get around to it! 😀

I can’t wait to read your review, Lashaan!
I think I’m giving up on formal TBRs this year. I still have certain books that I plan in reading and others I have obligations for but I found listing them doesn’t really motivate me – sometimes just the opposite. So I think I’ll just do a wrap up each month. Of course that’s all subject to change. For some reason, Oren-Yaro has been calling to me and honestly, I don’t read a lot of high fantasy so I don’t know why. Maybe it’s the word “bitch” in the series title – let’s be honest 🙂
I think it’s great if you don’t need a TBR. It would definitely give you more freedom. If I didn’t have so many review books, I would consider doing away with it too!
Seriously, how the heck is it February already! It feels like we just celebrated New Years. And how on earth did all these releases just seem to sneak up on us out of nowhere 😛 I thought I was somewhat on top of things, but looking at this list and seeing a lot of my own TBR reflected in it, I’m getting stressed (but in the good, excited way!)
And I think I even forgot some February releases that I have review copies of! It’s just crazy!! Yep, stress but the good kind:-)
Foul is Fair is on my February TBR too. I’m excited for that one since it’s a MacBeth retelling.
I’ve seen mixed reviews of Foul is Fair, but I’m still very excited to try it.
I think I mention this before already but I’m really looking forward to your thoughts on A Witch in Time. 😀

I can’t wait to start A Witch in Time:-)
Your plate looks full to me! I don’t have any of the books listed, but there’s a lot in the collection I’d like to try. The Unspoken Name. The Wolf of Oren-Yaro. Black Leviation. Mazes of Power. The Shadow Saint (but only after I get to The Gutter Prayer). Should I keep listing them? 🙂
Wow. So many good looking books! And many new authors for me to explore too. You always find stuff I’ve not even heard of yet!

Ha ha then I guess I’m doing my job, lol.
I keep finding so many new books coming out I want to add! The Unspoken Name has a neat cover.

I love that cover too. There are just TOO many good books:-)
As ever your TBR monthly post has me turning an unbecoming shade of green… I am also determined to get hold of the Moreno Garcia book at some stage. I hope you have a lovely time reading these beauties, Tammy:))
Thank you Sarah. If only I could read as fast as you, maybe I could almost finish this pile;-)
Everyone keeps suggesting I read Moontangled. I’ll have to get in. Glad you enjoyed it too.
My review of Moontangled will be up tomorrow. It’s such a fun series:-)
Some great stuff on your plate, like Moontangled and Bent Heavens. I want to read those too.
I can’t wait to start Bent Heavens, I’m craving some horror…
I have to admit all of these books are new to me. I recognise some of the covers but haven’t read any myself. I will have to wait and hear your opinions on them ^.^

Hopefully I can read a lot of them and tempt you, lol.
You have got your work cut out for you in February- but it looks like you’re already off to a great start. Looking forward to a few of these reviews (The Unspoken Name And Untamed Shores for starters!)
I will definitely be getting to both of those:-)
This looks like quite the list! Mine isn’t quite this full, but the one for March is pretty cluttered so I’m gonna try to start on it this month. What do you think the odds are that you’ll get through all these in February?
Oh my gosh, no! I expect to read maybe half of these. I wish I read faster, but I just can’t:-)
So many I want to read!! I’m currently reading both Four is Fair and The Boatman’s Daughter.
Wow, that is a lot, good luck. I’ve heard great things about the new Sarah Gailey, looking forward to your thoughts on it.
I really have some catching up to do already this month. My reading has been slow – very slow!
Lynn 😀
