Book Review Giveaway – Win a Book I Reviewed in October

I started my Book Review Giveaway for two reasons: one, I wanted more people to read my reviews. Most bloggers I know bemoan the fact that even though book reviews are the main reason they blog, readers gravitate towards more “exciting” posts like memes, lists, giveaways, and discussions. Two, I wanted to put one of the books I’ve read each month in the hands of someone who’s really excited to read it. I stopped doing it because I just needed a break. Well, the break is over! Here’s how my giveaway works:

  • Each month around the 15th, I’ll post the giveaway, featuring all the books I reviewed the previous month. (sort of like a wrap-up post, but with bonus content!)
  • I’ll leave links to my reviews because I want you to read them if you haven’t!
  • The giveaway will run for two weeks, until the end of the month, at which point I’ll randomly choose a winner.
  • **Bonus: If I manage to post EIGHT reviews in a month, I will choose TWO winners! (That’s gonna be hard, my average is 6-7)
  • The giveaway is INTERNATIONAL, provided The Book Depository ships to your country.
  • No substitutions! If you win and you’ve already read the books, or you just don’t like the sound of any, then I suggest you don’t enter. This giveaway is pretty specific and this is one rule I’m strict with. I usually post a variety of books, both adult and YA, in lots of genres, so hopefully there will be something that interests you.
  • I use Rafflecopter for my giveaways, and there are multiple ways to enter. You don’t have to have a Twitter account to participate!

Congrats to last month’s winner, Lisa W., who chose Ormeshadow!

Well, I can’t believe it took almost the whole year, but I FINALLY managed to post eight reviews last month. And I’m going to keep my promise and select two winners this month:-D It was a fantastic month for reading, and I hope you see something on this list that you’re excited to read. Here’s what’s up for grabs this month (click on the titles to read my reviews):

The Girl With No Face by M.H. Boroson. The nitty-gritty: A worthy follow-up to The Girl With Ghost Eyes, Boroson’s latest shines with magical imagery, sparkling and downright funny dialog, complex characters and an immensely satisfying plot, all framed by the rich history of Chinese immigrants in 1899 San Francisco. This story was a delight from start to finish.

Sisters of the Vast Black by Lina Rather. The nitty-gritty: Nuns on a galactic mission to heal and offer comfort are forced to make some hard decisions in this stunning and thoroughly original science fiction adventure.

The Twisted Ones by T. Kingfisher. The nitty-gritty: Horror and humor combine in just the right amounts to make this fast-paced story a must read for fans of spooky and weird fiction.

Dark Pattern by Andrew Mayne. The nitty-gritty: Compulsively readable, Andrew Mayne’s thrilling series is just getting better and better.

The Absinthe Earl by Sharon Lynn Fisher. The nitty-gritty: Another winner from Sharon Lynn Fisher, The Absinthe Earl is a delightful historical romance, meticulously researched and full to the brim with unexpected fantasy elements and a fast moving plot.

The Vine Witch by Luanne G. Smith. The nitty-gritty: A touch of romance blended with a magical tale of witches and wine, The Vine Witch was a pleasant surprise.

Ghoster by Jason Arnopp. The nitty-gritty: A fast-paced mystery with plenty of creepy moments, Ghoster gets off to a strong start but ends up a little too WTF for my taste.

Dreams of Lake Drukka & Exhumation by Mike Thorn. The nitty-gritty: I loved the moody, dangerous quality of these stories, but both endings left me confused.

SO many good books! Sisters of the Vast Black sounds a bit like The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell, and I absolutely loved that.
