Waiting on Wednesdays is the brainchild of Jill at Breaking the Spine, and because Jill isn’t hosting it any more, I’m now linking up with Can’t Wait Wednesday at Wishful Endings. Stop over there and link up your “Can’t Wait” book of the week!
I just happened to see this cover revealed on the Tor.com website, and I couldn’t be more excited. This story sounds WEIRD but so good:
Meet Roger. Skilled with words, languages come easily to him. He instinctively understands how the world works through the power of story.
Meet Dodger, his twin. Numbers are her world, her obsession, her everything. All she understands, she does so through the power of math.
Roger and Dodger aren’t exactly human, though they don’t realise it. They aren’t exactly gods, either. Not entirely. Not yet.
Meet Reed, skilled in the alchemical arts like his progenitor before him. Reed created Dodger and her brother. He’s not their father. Not quite. But he has a plan: to raise the twins to the highest power, to ascend with them and claim their authority as his own.
Godhood is attainable. Pray it isn’t attained.
Middlegame by Seanan McGuire. Releases in May 2019 from Tor.com. I have no idea what this is about, but it doesn’t really matter. I’m pretty excited to read a new standalone fantasy novel from McGuire! And what about that creepy cover??
Yep, this sounds thrilling. And such a great cover!

I love the cover, and it makes me wonder about the story:-)
I haven’t read anything yet by Seanan McGuire but I gotta admit this story does sound intriguing from what I read of the synopsis. I’m definitely interested!
She’s very unique, I recommend giving her a try!
That is a pretty cool cover. I have a few McGuire titles on the digital shelves, but have yet to get reading.
The cover is striking, and I’m wondering what the hell it has to do with the story, lol.
This is new to me but I loved her book Every Heart a Doorway! What a unique cover. I hope you love it!
Thanks Kimberly, I loved Every Heart a Doorway too:-)
Ummm… Yep, What everyone else said. That cover is creeeeeeeepy!!
It is creepy! But somehow it pulls you in:-)
Most definitely!!
Twinsies! 🙂 I love it. Can’t wait for this one!!

Ha ha, I don’t think we’ve ever been twins before, have we?
I don’t think so! It was bound to happen. 🙂

I recently discovered this author and now want to read all her books. This one sounds so good! I hope you love it. Have a great day!
Me too, I’d love to have more time to catch up with her earlier books.
This one sounds very interesting – not heard of it before so thanks for the heads up.
Lynn 😀
“Interesting” was my thought exactly. Hard to categorize maybe?
I will read anything this woman writes. This one is new to me but now I am anxiously awaiting it too. However, I do wish there wasn’t so much writing on the fingers of the hand. Oh and Roger and Dodger…..gotta love it.
OMG. Just added it on Goodreads and this book is over 500 pages. I guess when I saw Tor.com I assumed it was a novella.
Me too! They are putting out the occasional novel, which is kind of cool.
Ha ha, I thought the same thing. The writing on the fingers is a bit over the top for me too.
I really do need to make an effort to read more Seanan McGuire. I love her Wayward Children novellas and I’ve read a bit of her UF as well. She’s so prolific, it’s hard to keep up!
It’s so true, she writes so fast, and with a pen name as well, I guess she can write twice as much as other writers, lol.
WHAT?? New Seanan McGuire? I’m in, 100%. Love her writing. Thanks so much for featuring this book — heading off to find out more right now.
This sort of came out of nowhere, but I’m so happy she’s writing something new:-)
We have to wait until May 2019???
It seems forever given the brief but oh-so-intriguing synopsis you wrote…
And yes, that will be another “grab it as it comes out” McGuire book! 😀

It does seem far away, but hopefully worth the wait:-)
This sounds so good, and the cover makes me laugh because it reminds me of the Jenna Marbles video where she played with paraffin wax and created fire hands. lmao

I haven’t seen that video but I can imagine, ha ha!
Okay so I know you didn’t ask for it but….

OMG thanks! I will watch this soon, I can’t wait to see what you’re talking about!
This makes me excited! That cover is awesome and I really have no idea what it’s about still, but I’m in! Thanks for sharing, I had no idea she had this one coming out. 🙂
Ha ha, I know what you mean. The blurb doesn’t tell you much, does it?
I haven’t read any of this author’s books, but I have heard amazing things. I am going to need to change that because this book does sound interesting. Thanks so much for sharing it! 🙂
I recommend her, she’s on the quirky side but I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read so far:-)
Wow, that cover is amazing! I still have yet to read a book by Seanan McGuire but every synopsis I read has me wanting to try one.
Her books are always so different from each other, I think that’s one reason I love her.
I saw the cover reveal too and was very impressed with this! I’m still hit or miss with McGuire, but maybe I’ll check this one out since it sounds so interesting!
It does sound unusual, and very different from her other books:-)
McGuire’s a trip, the way she can write such vastly different stuff, and somehow always make it thought provoking. This one look different!

Oh wow, how does she have another book coming out?!?! She’s amazing — as is this cover and this premise!
