Waiting on Wednesdays is the brainchild of Jill at Breaking the Spine, and because Jill isn’t hosting it any more, I’m now linking up with Can’t Wait Wednesday at Wishful Endings. Stop over there and link up your “Can’t Wait” book of the week!
It’s Sci Fi Month, in case you haven’t heard, and this month all my Waiting on Wednesday picks will be science fiction. It’s the last Wednesday of Sci-Fi Month 2017! It’s been a blast, but I have to admit I have quite a few non-sci fi books waiting in the wings to highlight. But let’s finish off the month with this awesome-sounding book:
Cade Sura holds the future of the galaxy in his hands: the ultimate weapon that will bring total peace. He didn’t ask for it, he doesn’t want it, and there’s no worse choice to wield it in all of space, but if he doesn’t, everyone’s totally screwed. The evil Praxis kingdom is on the cusp of having every star system under its control, and if that happens, there’ll be no contesting their cruel reign. Especially if its fanatical overlord, Ga Halle, manages to capture Cade and snag the all-powerful weapon for herself.
Cade can’t hide from Praxis, and he can’t run from the destiny that’s been shoved into his hands. So he only has one option:
He has to fight.
Cade’s not going to let destiny send him on a suicide run, though. With some help from his friends—rebels and scoundrels alike—Cade’s going to use this weapon to chart a new destiny for the galaxy, and for himself. He just has to do so before everyone around him discovers that he’s a complete and total fraud.
Black Star Renegades by Michael Moreci. Releases in January 2018 from St. Martin’s Press. This sounds like a blast! I love books that bring misfits together for an adventure, and I love that this is being compared to Guardians of the Galaxy. Moreci has written a bunch of graphic novels and comics, and this is his debut novel. Can’t wait!
I’ve been seeing this one around various blogs A LOT – I think I’m going to wait until I read your review though – for some reasons, it isn’t rocking my boat. And I’m not even sure why! I hope you enjoy it, Tammy.
It may not be your sense of humor, I do find that I am pretty picky when it comes to humor myself:-)
lol… and on revisiting Netgalley, I find I’ve already requested it and am awaiting approval:).
Good luck, I just got approved today!
If this book is half as fun as Guardians of the Galaxy then it should definitely be worth reading. Great pick.

Agreed, it definitely sounds like fun!
The premise is a fascinating one, but the comparison with “Guardians” really makes this book a “must read”, of course 🙂
(even though there will be no Groot here…)

You never know, maybe there is a Groot-like character??
Sometimes comparisons don’t work for me, but I find it interesting that this is being compared to Guardians of the Galaxy. I hope you enjoy this book when you get the chance to read it!
Have a great week, Tammy. =)

I do hope this is a true comparison, we’ll see! Thanks for visiting, Alyssa:-)
I just got an ARC from St. Martin’s Press earlier this week! I agree, it sounds super fun!
