Waiting on Wednesdays is the brainchild of Jill at Breaking the Spine, and because Jill isn’t hosting it any more, I’m now linking up with Can’t Wait Wednesday at Wishful Endings. Stop over there and link up your “Can’t Wait” book of the week!
I’m totally stealing this week’s pick from Bonnie, who featured this last week. I can’t resist, this story sounds like all kinds of amazing:
The Bram Stoker Award–nominated author of Bird Box returns with a haunting tale of love, redemption, and murder.
Carol Evers is a woman with a dark secret. She has died many times . . . but her many deaths are not final: They are comas, a waking slumber indistinguishable from death, each lasting days.
Only two people know of Carol’s eerie condition. One is her husband, Dwight, who married Carol for her fortune, and—when she lapses into another coma—plots to seize it by proclaiming her dead and quickly burying her . . . alive. The other is her lost love, the infamous outlaw James Moxie. When word of Carol’s dreadful fate reaches him, Moxie rides the Trail again to save his beloved from an early, unnatural grave.
And all the while, awake and aware, Carol fights to free herself from the crippling darkness that binds her—summoning her own fierce will to survive. As the players in this drama of life and death fight to decide her fate, Carol must in the end battle to save herself.
The haunting story of a woman literally bringing herself back from the dead, Unbury Carol is a twisted take on the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale that will stay with you long after you’ve turned the final page.
Unbury Carol by Josh Malerman. Releases in April 2018 from Del Rey. Such a unique and creepy sounding story, right? Too bad it isn’t available right now, I’m in the mood for this since Halloween is coming up so quickly.
Ohh… this one looks great! Thanks!
It does, I love the title, too
WOW this sounds creepy, but not in the scary creepy kind of way. I can’t even imagine going through that over and over. I hope you enjoy this book when you get the chance to read it!
Have a great week, Tammy. =)

It’s a very creepy idea, and I can’t wait to read it
Yea, finally one I’m not adding to my TBR. Why you might ask? Because it’s already there! I do wish this one would have been released earlier as it would have been an awesome Halloween read!

I’m glad it’s already on your list, its going to be such a long wait, though!
Oh my! Vampires don’t scare me. Lovecraftian monsters can’t make me cringe in terror.
But a story about someone buried alive terrifies me beyond words.
Interesting novel, though… 😀

Me too! I’m definitely curious to see how he handles this idea
What a fascinating premise… I hope you enjoy this one when it becomes available, Tammy:)
Yes, it’s unusual, right?
I’ve wanted to read this author ever since I heard of Bird Box! Not sure how I missed this one while going through the Del Rey catalog, but it’s definitely added to the tbr now!

Me too, I still need to read Bird Box!
I, too, am wishlisting this one. 🙂
Thanks for this – sounds like something I would love. I will add this to my list.
