Waiting on Wednesdays is the brainchild of Jill at Breaking the Spine, and because Jill isn’t hosting it any more, I’m now linking up with Can’t Wait Wednesday at Wishful Endings. Stop over there and link up your “Can’t Wait” book of the week!
I saw this cover this past week and I nearly fell off my chair. This is my favorite cover of the year so far, and there have been some excellent covers in 2017! Take a look:
Zélie Adebola remembers when the soil of Orïsha hummed with magic. Burners ignited flames, Tiders beckoned waves, and Zelie’s Reaper mother summoned forth souls.
But everything changed the night magic disappeared. Under the orders of a ruthless king, maji were targeted and killed, leaving Zélie without a mother and her people without hope.
Now, Zélie has one chance to bring back magic and strike against the monarchy. With the help of a rogue princess, Zélie must outwit and outrun the crown prince, who is hell-bent on eradicating magic for good.
Danger lurks in Orïsha, where snow leoponaires prowl and vengeful spirits wait in the waters. Yet the greatest danger may be Zélie herself as she struggles to control her powers—and her growing feelings for the enemy.
Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi. Releases in March 2018 from Henry Holt Books for Young Readers. The cover art is by Rich Deas, and I think it’s amazing. Apparently, the book has already been optioned for film and is in production (!). It takes a special looking/sounding YA book to get me excited, but I think this does a great job.
I so hope this book does amazingly well. And that cover is a real stunner.

I agree, I feel like it will do well, especially having already been optioned for film.

“Intense” is right, I want this as a poster to hang on my wall!
I had the chance to chat with the author a bit at ALA, and she’s so adorable and spunky! Can’t wait to read this book and I hope that the movie does it justice!
Oh that’s so cool! I’d love to meet her:-)
Great pick Tammy! haha! we are def WOW twins this week & for such an amazing title too! Super excited to see this one hit the shelves next year as well as the big screen 🙂
Ha ha! This is amazing, and I’m very curious about the movie!
OMG! that cover. You are definitely right about it being one of the best. Why is it not coming out until next year? What a crazy long wait. Yep, on to the wishlist it goes.
It is a long wait! Luckily there are a bajillion books to read between now and then:-)
Omg, never heard of it before today and I just came from a blog post featuring it before coming here! <3
I think the cover was just released, so it’s probably pretty popular today:-)
This sounds so cool! It doesn’t seem like just another YA fantasy, thank goodness! I can’t believe that it has already been optioned for film. Obviously, this book has the X-factor!

This is going on the list now. Sounds wonderful and you’re not wrong about that cover. It’s vibrant, dramatic, sharp, and just plain gorgeous.

I’ve not heard of this one! As with most YA, I’ll wait and see how the reviews go before I decide to check it out, but I agree that the cover is very striking!
