Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the Broke and the Bookish, where each week bloggers are given a different top ten theme to blog about. I like this week’s theme because I’ve added quite a few new books to my Goodreads TBR pile in last few weeks, and I thought it would be fun to share:
Borrowed Souls by Chelsea Mueller. This has an urban fantasy vibe to it, and I detect a bit of romance as well, so this could be a really fun read!
An Alchemy of Masques and Mirrors by Curtis Craddock. This sci-fi/fantasy mashup sounds really good, but doesn’t come out until next August!
Dear Sweet Filthy World by Caitlín R. Kiernan. This is a collection of short stories that are very hard to find, according to the publisher’s blurb. Kiernan has been writing horror and fantasy for a long time, and I’m eager to check out her stories.
Black Mad Wheel by Josh Malerman. Malerman wrote Bird Box a couple of years ago, a horror novel that got lots of great reviews (and my copy is still gathering dust on my shelf, unfortunately!) This story sounds pretty wild!
Dragon and Thief by Timothy Zahn. This book was originally published in 2003, and it looks like Tor is repackaging it in style. I’m loving this cover, and the story sounds like fun.
Roar by Cora Carmack. I’m getting a Truthwitch vibe from this story (and cover!) which is about people who can control storms.
The Sandcastle Empire by Kayla Olson. This YA dystopian sounds so good. I don’t want to even guess what it reminds me of, but I can’t wait to read it:-)
Ararat by Christopher Golden. Yet another horror story set in an icy climate, but I can’t seem to get enough of these. This one sounds quite different, though, click on the link and see for yourself:-)
Wicked Wonders by Ellen Klages. I recently accepted this book for review, and I’m quite looking forward to it. Short stories from an author that has lots of published works under her belt.
Kings of the Wyld by Nicholas Eames. At first glance this isn’t the sort of book I tend to read at all, but it seems like it might have some humor to it. Color me intrigued!
So that’s my list! Let me know if you’ve heard of any of these, and link me up to your top ten list!
You have added a lot of cool books of late. 🙂
I agree, and I’m wondering how I will ever find time to read them all!
Nice haul – my Top 10 is a mix of review titles and books that I just want to read for myself.
Cool, I’ll be checking out your list soon:-D
I’m also interested in Roar and The Sandcastle Empire, so those are on my wishlist, too. Though I must’ve missed the TSE cover reveal – because this is the first time I’m seeing it!
I didn’t do a TTT on my last 10 books added to my TBR. But if I look at the last 10 books I added on Goodreads, they would be:
1) Cephrael’s Hand by Melissa McPhail
2) Iron Cast by Destiny Soria
3) Counted with the Stars by Connilyn Cossette
4) Dune by Frank Herbert (Yes, I haven’t read this book yet :O :O )
5) Why I Wake Early by Mary Oliver
6) The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco
7) The Gift With All the Gifts by M.R. Carey
8) Pawn of Prophecy by David Eddings
9) The Firethorn Crown by Lea Doue
10) Dragons of Autumn Twilight by Margaret Weis

I haven’t read Dune either, don’t worry! I tried to watch the movie years ago but just couldn’t get into it. And The Girl with all the Gifts was sooo good! It made my top ten two (?) years ago.
I’ve recently added Ararat and Black Mad Wheel to mine as well, but they didn’t make this week’s cut 🙂 There are way too many cool books coming out and I just can’t seem to read fast enough!

Me too Barb! It’s so frustrating sometimes. Wish I could quit my job and read 8 hours a day instead!
Dear Sweet Filthy World sounds good. I still haven’t read much of Caitlin Kiernan’s work, but I’ve enjoyed what I have read!

I’m interested in Dear Sweet Filthy World too. Kiernan’s The Red Tree is one of my favorite creepfests. I hope the release it in paper. That HC is too steep for my wallet.
This is an intriguing – quite a few I’ve not seen before that I must check out. I saw Kings of the Wyld on NG but decided to give it a miss – I’m really trying to request as little as possible at the moment. I want to catch up with all my review books and also make a dint in some of my own – it is difficult though!
Lynn 😀
I know what you mean. I’m trying not to request anymore books until next year. I’ve never been caught up with review books but I’m going to try!
Great list! I’m definitely curious about Kings of the Wild and the Alchemy of Masques and Mirrors. And a new urban fantasy could be fun too!

I am very interested in the urban fantasy, I think I’ve had a dry spell and haven’t read one in a while:-)
So tempting, must not add any more to my tbr! Though I have to say Kings of the Wyld caught my eye too.

I have to think of my TBR not as “must read” but “may possibly read.” Otherwise I would never be able to add new books, ever!
Love that cover of Dragon and Thief. And The Sandcastle empire… hmm looks interesting. Most of these are new (to me) so thanks for sharing em. I have a few news ones to check out now!
Ararat sounds awesome!

I agree, Ararat really caught my attention when I saw it on another blog, and I immediately added it.
Borrowed Souls and An Alchemy of Masques and Mirrors is going on my tbr!

Oh man, you gotta read Bird Box. Crazy good. And I just added Wicked Wonders to my TBR… I’m not typically big on short stories but that description sounds super interesting. Also, Tachyon is a great publisher. 🙂
