It’s that time of the year, it’s time to celebrate all things horror! I love this hop because I get to highlight some of my favorite (or most anticipated) books in the horror genre. Big thanks to Mary at Bookhounds for hosting! This giveaway is open internationally, provided The Book Depository ships to your country. One winner will be randomly selected at the end of the hop, and will get to choose one of the books below:
The Last Days of Jack Sparks by Jason Arnopp. I recently read this and reviewed it here. Folks, you do not want to miss this book! It’s full of twists, horror, humor and I can honestly say it’s one of the most unique books I’ve come across in a long time.
The Suicide Motor Club by Christopher Buehlman. I adored this gritty and unusual vampire story, it’s going in my top ten list for 2016 for sure. Read my review here.
The Devourers by Indra Das. This is another unusual vampire tale, set in India, beautifully written and creepy as hell! You can read my review here.
The Motion of Puppets by Keith Donohue. I’ll be nearly finished with this when this post goes live, and I’m adoring this quirky story about a woman who turns into a puppet, and whose husband sets out to rescue her. Look for a review soon! | Goodreads
Certain Dark Things by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. This is up next on my reading list, and I’ve been hearing such positive things about it! Vampires in Mexico! | Goodreads
The Apartment by S.L. Grey. Another book coming up in my reading queue, this haunted apartment story is supposed to be really scary! | Goodreads

Two favorites this year have been Horrorstor and You! 🙂
I really like And The Trees Crept In. It had a very unexpected ending.
My absolute favorite this year is Neidermayer & Hart by M. J. Johnson. I actually won this book and was totally blown away. Months later it still scares me. It is a slow horror that builds much in the way of classic horror. It relies on imagination more than gore, (though that does pop up). There are two stories being told, one set in the 90’s and the other the 12th century. It worked as a few chapters now, cliffhanger, historical chapter telling the beginning of the horror, cliffhanger, back to now, cliffhanger, history, cliffhanger. Those cliffhangers will keep you reading way longer than you planned. I would recommend if you are going to read this book, don’t read reviews. There are some that give away too much information. Tammy, if this sounds like something you want to try I am willing to loan it to you.
I haven’t read many scary books this year but I am reading a romance thriller called The Haunting by Sandra Marton.
cujo and misery
I haven’t had one yet! Last one that even remotely freaked me out was The Passage series by Cronin. I’m hard to freak out. I am reading The Restorer by Amanda Stevens now so hoping that is a good series to get into.

A Head Full of Ghosts, The Dead House, and the Asylum series were all really good 🙂

The Family Plot nailed it for me this year – although I don’t suppose it’s horror so much as haunted house! Still, it scared me.
Lynn 😀
I don’t think I’ve read anything particularly scary this year but the books in this collection look like they could fix that. Thanks for the chance to win.

Sadly, I don’t think I’ve read anything I’d call scary in quite some time. I’d love to win a couple of YOUR picks, though. It seems you’ve found some winners!
I actually don’t think I’ve read anything creepy this year!
Okay the scary book that I read this year wasn’t really scary. It kind of just messed with you, you didn’t know what was happening and that book and book trilogy is Never Never by Colleen Hoover.
I really liked Disappearance at Devil’s Rock by Paul Tremblay.
I haven’t read too many scary stories this year, but there are at least three of the above books that I’m rather avid to read! I know my top choice, but, still, I’ll have to search out the other two (if I win).
I know its an old one but Stephen Kings IT has been the scariest so far!
