Welcome to the Something Wicked Returns Blog Hop, hosted by Rainy Day Ramblings, The Nocturnal Library, Candace’s Book Blog and My Guilty Obsession! This hop will run for the entire month of October, and we’re celebrating the season by offering some pretty scary giveaways;) For my stop, I’m offering one international winner their choice of a paperback copy of The Shining by Stephen King or Joe Hill’s latest horror behemoth novel NOS4A2. Here’s more about these books from two of the masters of horror:
Danny was only five years old but in the words of old Mr Halloran he was a ‘shiner’, aglow with psychic voltage. When his father became caretaker of the Overlook Hotel his visions grew frighteningly out of control.
As winter closed in and blizzards cut them off, the hotel seemed to develop a life of its own. It was meant to be empty, but who was the lady in Room 217, and who were the masked guests going up and down in the elevator? And why did the hedges shaped like animals seem so alive?
Somewhere, somehow there was an evil force in the hotel – and that too had begun to shine…
NOS4A2 is a spine-tingling novel of supernatural suspense from master of horror Joe Hill, the New York Times bestselling author of Heart-Shaped Box and Horns.
Victoria McQueen has a secret gift for finding things: a misplaced bracelet, a missing photograph, answers to unanswerable questions. On her Raleigh Tuff Burner bike, she makes her way to a rickety covered bridge that, within moments, takes her wherever she needs to go, whether it’s across Massachusetts or across the country.
Charles Talent Manx has a way with children. He likes to take them for rides in his 1938 Rolls-Royce Wraith with the NOS4A2 vanity plate. With his old car, he can slip right out of the everyday world, and onto the hidden roads that transport them to an astonishing – and terrifying – playground of amusements he calls “Christmasland.”
Then, one day, Vic goes looking for trouble—and finds Manx. That was a lifetime ago. Now Vic, the only kid to ever escape Manx’s unmitigated evil, is all grown up and desperate to forget. But Charlie Manx never stopped thinking about Victoria McQueen. He’s on the road again and he’s picked up a new passenger: Vic’s own son.
If you haven’t read The Shining yet, this is your chance to catch up before you pick up Doctor Sleep, the sequel. My favorite part of Halloween doesn’t exist anymore. It used to be when in small neighborhoods children (that you knew) dressed up and came to your door with their parents and you tried to guess who it was. So now I settle for awesome yard decorations! Have been dying to read the Joe Hill book (have The Shining on my shelf). Thank you for the opportunity!
I love, love, love watching the little kids in their costumes trick-or-treating!

I love costume parties and scary movie marathon! And I love this blog hop! I’m a scary and spooky books fan. 🙂
Fav part of Halloween? Seeing everyone’s costumes – or seeing really GOOD costumes! Not just the ones purchased at a store. =)
Honestly? Nowadays it’s the excuse to huddle up in my house with the lights out so that no one knows I’m home. 🙂
the candies
My favorite thing is taking my kids Trick-Or-Treating since I didn’t get to when I was a kid!
My favorite thing is handing out the candy!

Dressing up! I have an annual dinner held in my house and I really can’t wait 🙂
NOS4A2 is on my wishlist. It’s funny, I hate the transition to Fall because I love Summer, but I love Halloween time. I like all the creepy movies and decorations this time of year.

My favorite thing is decorating the house for Halloween!

NOS4A2 is super long, but I’m enjoying it so much! We don’t celebrate Halloween in Argentina :/
I would love Stephen King’s The Stand. I’ve been dying to read it. Hope i win.
My favorite thing for Halloween is when i use to work the corn maze years ago to scare the life out of people.
My favorite thing is dressing up. I love that, and the weather is usually my favorite time of the year too.
Favorite thing about Hallowe’en — dressing up as an alter ego and then visiting as many haunted houses in my area as possible.
I’m dying to get my hands on The Shining. We don’t celebrate Halloween here.. 🙂
The best thing about Halloween is seeing my boys having fun in their costumes 🙂 Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
My favorite thing is probably the candy(: But I am dressing up this year, so I am looking forward to that.
Thanks for the giveaway, I’ve been meaning to find out what The Shining was about and holy cow it sounds creepy! Yay for Stephen King 😀
My favorite thing about Halloween is the smell. You have this earthen decay smell mixed with a hint of sweetness from the candy and pumpkins. Everything is crisp and clean and it’s just so damn lovely. Next to that it’d have to be designing costumes and decorating. Also oo Apple Cider!!
Although Halloween is not celebrated in my country, I do like to ‘experience’ it on television or in books. However, my favourite thing about Halloween is that it is my sister’s birthday! 🙂
The best thing about Halloween is all the scary stories, of course! Thanks!
I like the free candies. <3 and The scary costumes. 🙂
