Welcome to Stacking the Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews! It’s been several weeks since I’ve had some new books to share, so let’s get to it! Here is my newest book haul:
For Review from Edelweiss/NetGalley:
Dying is My Business by Nicholas Kaufmann. Release date: October 8 2013 (St. Martin’s Griffin). Oh God I love urban fantasy! I just don’t read enough of it. This story takes place in New York City, I think one of the best places to set this genre.
The Troop by Nick Cutter. Release date: January 7 2014 (Gallery Books). “Lord of the Flies meets The Ruins.” OK, most people have read Lord of the Flies, but have you read The Ruins? One of the scariest books I’ve ever read. Terrifying. And the book is way better than the movie, by the way.
Cain’s Blood by Geoffrey Girard. Release date: September 3 2013 (Touchstone). I just happened to be going down my list of Edelweiss requests, and I had given up on this one. I requested this three months ago!! And apparently it was just approved. I’m thrilled, because I just read and loved the YA version of this story, Project Cain (reviewed here) and I just featured an interview with Geoffrey here. I’m looking forward to comparing the two books. (I also have a giveaway going on right now for Project Cain. Check out the interview link above to enter!)
Sick by Tom Leveen. Release date: October 1 2013 (Amulet Books). Here’s another publisher’s “blank meets blank” (gotta love these!) “The Breakfast Club meets The Walking Dead.” High school and zombies. Two things that could go well together!
Big thanks to St. Martin’s Griffin, Touchstone, Amulet Books and Gallery Books!
ARCs from publisher:
Teacher’s Pest (Tales from Lovecraft Middle School #3) by Charles Gilman. Release date: May 7 2013 (Quirk Books). I honestly don’t know why I got this, but it sure is cool. I think I’ll read it quickly then donate it to a school library. It’s got one of those awesome 3D covers that changes when you move it. I have yet to see a Quirk book that isn’t beautifully designed. Thank you Quirk!
Skulk by Rosie Best. Release date: October 1 2013 (Strange Chemistry). It may not look like it from the cover, but this story is about shape-shifting foxes! Cool, right? Thank you Strange Chemistry!
For Blog Tour:
Wanted: One Ghost by Loni Lynne. Available now from Crescent Moon Press. I’m going to be on the tour for this ghostly story next month.
I’d love to hear about your book haul this week. Please leave me a link so I can visit!
Nice haul! I got Skulk and The Troop recently too, can’t wait to read them! I hadn’t heard of Dying Is My Business but it sounds like a great read.
Here’s my Haul!
Ahh yes. I got The Troop too but I am scared because of all the animal violence. I am afraid I am not going to be able to finish it now!
Oh no! I hate animal violence. I may have to rethink this one…
Skulk looks good! happy reading.
Okay I admit, I haven’t heard of any of these. Teacher’s Pest though… what a cover! And The Troop’s cover reminds me of LOST 😀
Have a fabulous weekend!

Ahhh I must try to get Dying is My Business!!
The comparison of The Troop to The Ruins is a good one in both tone and subject matter. Enjoy!!
