Welcome to Stacking the Shelves! Brought to you by Tynga’s Reviews, it’s a fun way to share the books you’ve acquired over the past week with other readers and bloggers. This week I received (click on book covers to go to Goodreads):
For Review from NetGalley:
The Blue Blazes by Chuck Wendig. Release date: May 28 2013 (Angry Robot). I’ll admit I have not read any of Chuck’s other books, but I keep hearing great things about them. I’m so glad this is the first in a series!
Sea Change by S. M. Wheeler. Release date: June 18 2013 (Tor). OK, this story is about a girl who finds a kraken! This is an adult book, not YA, and I love the cover.
The World of the End by Ofir Touché Gafla. Release date: June 25 2013 (Tor). This story sounds amazing and reminds me a bit of Richard Matheson’s What Dreams May Come: a man’s wife dies and he goes to the afterlife to try to get her back. Wow.
Big thanks to Tor and Angry Robot for these titles:)
ARC received for review:
The Lives of Tao by Wesley Chu. Release date: April 30 2013 (Angry Robot). I adore Angry Robot, and I was lucky enough to get a print ARC of this debut title! I will most likely be giving it away when I post my review, so stay tuned!
Received for Blog Tours:
These books are both for May blog tours. Bethany Lopez is a new author to me, but I read the first book in Marion Croslydon’s series, Oxford Whispers, and really enjoyed it.
Won:
Escape Theory by Margaux Froley. You might notice this is a different cover from the finished book. I’m actually not sure whether the publisher just sent this to me, or whether I won it in a contest! Oh well, I’ve been dying to read it, so I don’t care where it came from! But thanks to Soho Teen either way!
Wish by Beth Bracken & Kay Fraser. I did win this from the publisher, Capstone. This is a middle grade novel (ages 10-14) that is gorgeously illustrated by Odessa Sawyer. Wow, I seriously don’t even remember entering a contest for this book (!) but I’m glad I did. I will most likely pass this along to someone, either in a giveaway or to my school library. Or not! It’s beautiful, I may just keep it for myself:)
That’s it for me! I’d love to see what you have on your shelves:)
Ooo, Nissa is so pretty! I haven’t read that Lopez title yet! I think there was a tour for it, and I never signed up for it. Hmmm… 🙂
Oxford Shadows! I think I’ll go look that one up. It sounds good 😀
Have a great weekend!
Here is my STS post!
Bethany Lopez is a new author to me too. But I just love the cover of her book, and I’m definitely intrigued by it.
I almost, almost requested Sea Change. I had it on a WOW post a couple of weeks ago. But I have sooo many ARCs. I hope you read it soon so I can see if it’s worth piling another ARC on. 😀
I agree, Sea of Change is an awesome looking cover. Finding a Kraken?? I love original plots!
My STS post
so many cool books in your pike this week!
My STS
Escape Theory was an interesting read. I’m interested to see how Sea Change is, it’s been popping up all over the place and hopefully for good reason!
The Monster Report
I can’t wait to read the Blue Blazes! I LOVED his Miriam books!
