You can never have too many Giveaway Hops—that’s my motto! Welcome to my stop on the YA Paranormal Hop, hosted by I Am A Reader, Not A Writer and YA Between the Lines. Up for grabs is a PRE-ORDER copy of In the Shadow of Blackbirds by Cat Winters! This book won’t be released until April 2nd, so the winner will have to wait a bit, but—seriously, I believe this is going to be an amazing book! I have a copy standing by, ready to read soon, and I’m so excited. This books fits the bill for this hop: it’s YA and it’s got paranormal elements to it. Here it is:
In 1918, the world seems on the verge of apocalypse. Americans roam the streets in gauze masks to ward off the deadly Spanish influenza, and the government ships young men to the front lines of a brutal war, creating an atmosphere of fear and confusion. Sixteen-year-old Mary Shelley Black watches as desperate mourners flock to séances and spirit photographers for comfort, but she herself has never believed in ghosts. During her bleakest moment, however, she’s forced to rethink her entire way of looking at life and death, for her first love—a boy who died in battle—returns in spirit form. But what does he want from her?
Featuring haunting archival early-twentieth-century photographs, this is a tense, romantic story set in a past that is eerily like our own time.

I’ve had my eye on this book since I first heard about it in November. In the early 1900’s, people had so many superstitions and thoughts about the ‘other side’ .. and we’re no closer to really knowing what’s over there now than back then LOL… but besides that, there is so much more about this book to LOVE! I CAN NOT WAIT until it’s released. (thanks for the giveaway!)
Love the idea of the seances and spirit photographers!
