Stacking the Shelves #8

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews, and is a fun way for bloggers to share the books they’ve acquired over the week. It’s been a little slow here, so I have only two things to share, but I’m excited about both of them:

Purchased:

Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff.  Stormdancer was just released this past week, and I hurried out to get a copy, because I’m so excited to read it! I’ve seen many five-star reviews on Goodreads and Amazon, and not only that, but respected book publications like Publishers Weekly and Kirkus Reviews have given it starred reviews, which is a big deal. I think I’ve mentioned before that I’ve been following Jay on Facebook and reading his blog, and he’s really funny. He’s Australian and it’s fun to watch his videos, because for some reason he doesn’t look like he’s Australian. I’m going to sneak this into my October schedule, and I can’t wait!

Received for Review:

Murder Takes Time by Giacomo Giammatteo. This was an indie book request that I said “yes” to, and I’ll be reading and reviewing it in November. I have to say I’m being extremely picky about the indie books I agree to read. I know some bloggers will think I’m being mean or arrogant about being so selective, and there are lots of book bloggers that specialize in promoting indie books, which I applaud.  But there are so many things I want to read, that I’ve decided that’s going to be my focus on this blog: read what I want to! As long as no one’s paying me to read (and I sure wish someone would!) I will continue to be selective. Anyway, getting back to this book. Giacomo’s murder/thriller sounds so good, and it’s got that extra layer of also being a story about what life-long friendship means and how far someone will go to honor that friendship. Click the Goodreads button to learn more about it.

That’s it for me, folks! What’s on your shelves this week?

  1. I hope you like Stormdancer! The first 70 pages were tough for me to get through because of the long descriptions and complex language.. But things get better once the action starts!

Thanks for stopping by booknook. 🙂

  2. O.O You got Stormdancer?! So lucky, that is at the top of my wishlist! Enjoy the books, happy reading! If you would like to check out my Stacking The Shelves post you can do so here. 🙂
