The Friday Face-Off: Blue Cover

The Friday Face-Off was created by Books by Proxy, where each week bloggers can showcase books with covers centered around a weekly theme. You can visit Lynn’s Books for a list of upcoming themes. Join in the fun each Friday by finding a book whose cover is based on the theme!

This week’s theme: “How sweet to be a cloud, floating in the blue.” – A cover that is predominantly blue.

This week kicks of a bunch of fantasy-themed Friday Face-Off posts, in honor of Wyrd and Wonder! I’m doing something a little different today. Instead of choosing just one book with different blue covers, I’ve decided to highlight a bunch of BLUE fantasy covers that I think look beautiful together! Take a look:

And this is just the tip of the iceberg. Blue is a very popular cover in fantasy, and I could list even more if I wanted to. It’s hard to pick a favorite because they are all so different, but I’m going to have to pick the recently revealed cover of Shorefall, which is so vibrant and magical:

Which cover do you like best? Have you read any of these books?

  1. I am actually obsessed with blue covers. When I see one I just can’t resist. All of these covers look amazing but I’ve got to agree with Shorefall. So magical! I also really adore the cover of The Wicked King. This book was my first 5 star read of the year even. ^_^

  2. This reminds me of a recurring librarian chat theme. A patron that is looking for a book, but can’t remember the title. Only that the cover is blue.

  3. There are some great books here – ones I’ve read and ones waiting for me on my shelves. You know my favorite is going to be The Secret Life of Souls.right? I loved that book so much. Although, I have to admit Lost Boy is a close second. Maybe not in cover design but definitely in content.

  4. Oh, what a fabulous idea, Tammy:)). And what a marvellous collection – this is a tough week… Though I think Shorefall does edge it – that shade of blue is just so intense and glorious… Though I was also caught by Fellside, also because I haven’t yet read it – and I very much want to!

  5. I like your take on this! With all the different covers you displayed I would have given us almost no chance of having the same favorite, but I completely agree with your pick! The colors are amazing and the black really makes them pop!

  6. This was a good topic today, I should’ve done it! I love all the books you did, they look so good together. I love the blues in Shorefall and The Secret Life of Souls–blue is one of my favorite colors and I love when it’s that deeper, vibrant shade.

  7. It’s been a while since I posted anything and I missed you guys! I really like the one you chose with the pirate (?) on a throne. It’s dark and has a tinge of yellow where the light/sun is shining. Very cool. Just btw, Game of Thrones has a blue cover and I was going to go with that one but then I saw all the other choices and well it was hard to decide on just one like you. Anyway, I haven’t read any of your books yet but the one intriguing to me is Winter of the Gods. I like the deer so I choose that cover? IDK, city dwelling is my vibe 🙂 lol I like the landscape.

  8. I love that you displayed a whole range of covers – I very nearly did the same as there were so many lovely ones when I was trying to pick so it’s really great that you did so – they just look ace.
    I love your choice too.
    Lynn 😀

I like them all, but especially the top three in your list, The Gutter Prayer, Shorefall, and The Secret Life of Souls. Out of curiosity, have you read Pride and Prometheus?

I read Kessel’s The Moon and the Other before and loved it, but I haven’t tried P&P because it seems like such a departure from what I loved about TMATO.
