Over-Booked [100] – A Book Haul Post

Welcome to Over-Booked, where I share my latest and greatest book acquisitions! I’m linking up with Stacking the Shelves over at Tynga’s Reviews and The Sunday Post at The Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Just a small, manageable haul this time! Which is good because I’m way behind with review books. March did not go as planned, so I have a few March “hangover” books that I’ll be reading next month. Here are the latest books that make it to my mailbox and Kindle:

Physical books for review:

Salvation Day by Kali Wallace was a surprise from Berkley! I have a NetGalley copy but hey, I’m not going to say “no” to a physical one. This cover is different than the cover on Goodreads, so I’m not sure which is the final one. I suspect this is just an ARC cover.

Aurora Rising by Jay Kristoff & Amie Kaufman. Seriously, I’m not sure how I got this. I believe I entered a Publishers Weekly giveaway several months ago and completely forgot about it.

A lovely finished copy of Atlas Alone by Emma Newman arrived, and I’m super happy to have this. It’s the 4th book in Newman’s Planetfall series, which I adore. I’ll be reading this very soon!

Firefly: The Magnificent Nine by James Lovegrove. Ahhh!! I’m so excited to have this in my hands! Huge thanks to Titan Books for the beautiful finished copy! This is the second Firefly book, and look at Jayne all big on the cover! I hope that means he’ll feature prominently in the story. This actually came out in March, but I’ll be reading it next month.

Westside by W.M. Akers. This is a Goodreads giveaway win. Yes, you read that right. I actually WON a Goodreads giveaway! I think maybe I won one three years ago? Anyway, super excited for this book.

The Master of Dreams by Mike Resnick. I’m ashamed to say I’ve never read Resnick before. But this is the start to a new series, so it’s a great chance to jump in on the ground floor. This sounds like fun!

Huge thanks to Berkley, Daw Books, Titan Books, Harper Voyager, Knopf Books for Young Readers and Ace Books!

Digital books for review:

I was approved for Aurora Rising on NetGalley, and then a physical copy showed up unexpectedly, that’s been happening to me a lot lately, not sure why!

I was also thrilled to be approved for Five Midnights by Ann Dávila Cardinal, a YA horror story set in Puerto Rico. The cover is so creepy and I want to know what that thing on the cover is! Thank you Tor Teen!

Purchased:

My two preorders from Goldsboro Books came in last week and they are so beautiful!

Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid is probably the single most gorgeous book I own. I hated even cracking it open to take photos, because I don’t want to ruin it in any way. In case you don’t follow me on Instagram, here’s a slide show of the photos I shared over there:

I also purchased the signed, sprayed edges edition of one of my favorite books of the year so far, Do You Dream of Terra-Two? by Temi Oh. I’m excited to have this hardcover copy on my shelf.

And that’s my haul this week. I’d love to know if you plan on reading any of these books:-D

Yeah, they’re coming out in quick succession. I think book three comes out later in the year…

  1. Good Haul! I’ve been curious about Aurora Rising, but having not read any Kristoff at all, it isn’t a must-have for me – yet. I desperately need to get to the Atlas series, and the Firefly books seem like a lot of fun!

  2. Book envy is such a miserable emotion – Atlas Alone… the Firefly book… Do You Dream of Terra Two? AND Aurora Rising? I’m just green, green green!

Sorry Sarah, I hate to make anyone feel envious. But don’t worry, I’ve been there too, all too many times…

  3. That is an awesome Daisy Jones book. I still need to make some time for that one soon. I am glad you were approved for the Five Midnights. Hopefully it works out good for both of us. How cool that we both won copies of Westside. I always win Goodreads books in groups of three. Then I go another year or so before winning anything else. Hope you have a great month!

I love that we both won Westside too! I still can’t figure out how Goodreads chooses winners. I mean I enter all the time but never win. Oh well!

  4. I always thought I had more chance of a date with Brad Pitt or a ride through fairyland on the back of a unicorn than winning a GR’s giveaway. Congratulations 😀
    Great haul.
You have some lovely books to look forward to and I’ll be looking forward to reading your reviews.
    Lynn 😀

  5. Looks like lots of great stuff even though it’s a smaller haul. 🙂
Looking forward to your thoughts on Aurora Rising, seems people have been going crazy over that one before it’s even out.

  6. I think we have different definitions of small and manageable, haha. I had not heard of The Master of Dreams, but it looks cool! I’m also curious about Five Midnights, but I decided to hold off rather than request an ARC since I’m not sure if it’ll be my kinda book or not. It does sound good though!
