Last month I did something completely new to me, and I had SO. MUCH. FUN. I’m not a Bookstagramer by any means, but I have been on Instagram for several years and I’m getting into the Bookstagram community more and more. I happened upon a month-long challenge where you post a photo of a horror book by a female author every day, based on a daily prompt. I never thought I could complete this challenge (and believe me, it WAS a challenge), but I managed to do it, with the exception of skipping one day (it was near the beginning of the challenge and I had yet to stretch my creative Instagram wings and for the life of me I couldn’t think of anything for the “Jewelry” prompt) and having to delete my first post (I later found out one of the authors in my stack of books had transitioned to male—so I deleted it out of respect for the author). I’ve decided to just embed all my Instagram posts, so I hope you enjoy scrolling through them.
Before I show you my photos, I want to give a shout-out to the challenge hosts, who are all AMAZING Bookstagramers and you should definitely check them out! Most of them are bloggers as well, so do give them a look if you have time:
#bookstagram is pretty fun. I love looking at the pictures, people get all into elaborate photo shoots with their books. Yours look great!
Thanks Lisa! Yeah, my photos are nowhere near what some of the bookstagrammers do, but it is fun to try:-)
Yay!! You did so AWESOME at the challenge! Holy heck, I love seeing all of your pictures. 🙂 It was a fun month. I’m sure we will do again next year with different prompts so keep your books handy. Haha.
Thanks Jennifer! It was really fun, although there were a couple of times I wasn’t sure I could finish. I can’t wait for another challenge!
Very cool!
Thanks Paul:-)
This is so cool, and I loved seeing your photo style progress throughout the challenge! Kudos and thanks so much for sharing.

Ha ha, yay for Buffy doll! I knew I’d get to use her for something eventually:-)
Bookstagram looks like fun and your pics are great, Tammy:)). I LOVE that plant featured in Rolling in the Deep!
Thanks Sarah! That plant was a gift to my husband a couple of years ago, succulents, and one of the succulents in the pot has gone really wild and looks like an alien plant! That photo is one of my favorites:-)
These are lovely, Tammy! I would love to do something like this, but not having enough props to use in my pics would probably be the thing to do me in.
Thanks! Honestly, I found stuff around the house that seemed to work for props, it made me get creative because I wasn’t about to go out and buy a bunch of stuff I’d never use again!
Oh this looks like a ton of fun! And I LOVE that you featured Twilight. I loved it as a tween and am proud to admit it #TeamJacob 😛
Yay another Twilight fan! #TeamEdward #sorrynotsorry
Awesome pictures!! I tried the bookstagram thing when I first started blogging but I’m not that creative and I just started posting my nature/landscape pics.
Thanks Rebecca, I usually post pictures of my dogs and kids! I think Booksagram is cool, but you really do have to devote a lot of time to it.
I had so much fun following these posts last month. I JUST started an account and don’t know how much I will use it. I love it but I don’t know if I need another thing to do (who am I kidding – why will that stop me).
Exactly, it’s hard to find time, you really have to give something up to do it right, I guess.
I really enjoyed seeing these pics while you were doing this challenge. You did a great job. 🙂
Thanks Suzanne, it was fun to do something different:-)
Honestly, bookstagramming takes sooooo much time and dedication. Really impressed by the variety of books picked and the constant change in style! You were definitely on a roll! 😛
It really is time consuming, I was actually glad to finish this challenge up:-) I don’t think I could do this every day. But thanks for the compliment!
These are spectacular! Gives me some ideas for my review posts!

This is great – and you did every day! Really impressive pics too. I would have taken part with this but I don’t really tend to use Instagram a lot – I think I would have used the prompts to do something else like a sketch or a quote instead but wasn’t sure if that would be appropriate or not. I love your book choices..
