Waiting on Wednesday [293] – DARKDAWN by Jay Kristoff

Waiting on Wednesdays is the brainchild of Jill at Breaking the Spine, and because Jill isn’t hosting it any more, I’m now linking up with Can’t Wait Wednesday at Wishful Endings. Stop over there and link up your “Can’t Wait” book of the week!

Or perhaps we should call this “Cover Reveal Wednesday”? An exciting cover reveal just happened yesterday, so of course there was no other choice for me this week:

A ruthless young assassin’s journey for revenge comes to an end in the conclusion of this epic fantasy trilogy.

The Nevernight Chronicle is a complex fantasy series about Mia Corvere, a kick-butt, flawed heroine who trains as an assassin as part of her mission for personal revenge. Her tale takes place in the immersive world of Godsgrave which, although based on ancient Rome and Venice, is imaginative with many original details provided by a beloved snarky narrator.

In Darkdawn, the Republic of Itreya is in chaos. Mia has assassinated Cardinal Duomo and rumors of Consul Scaeva’s death ripple through the street of Godsgrave like wildfire. But buried beneath those same streets, deep in the ancient city’s bones, lies a secret that will change the Republic forever.

Mia and her brother Jonnen must journey through the depths of the ancient metropolis. Their quest will take them through the Godsgrave underdark, back to the library of the Quiet Mountain and the poisoned blades of Mia’s old mentors, and at last the fabled Crown of the Moon. There, Mia will at last discover the origins of the darkin, and learn the destiny that lies in store for her and her world. But with the three suns now in descent, and Truedark on the horizon, will she survive?

Darkdawn (The Nevernight Chronicle #3) by Jay Kristoff.  Releases in September 2018 from Thomas Dunne Books. I think this is my favorite cover of the series:-D I’m so excited to see how Kristoff wraps up this epic story, although coming to the end of a series I love is never easy. What do you think of this cover?

Let me know what you’re waiting on this week:-D

  1. Woah, the third one is out already? I swear, I blinka nd a series is starting and then ending so fast! I love the covers of this series!

  2. Oh my I think this is the best cover yet. I already own the first and need to grab the second (my first is even a signed copy I managed to snag from Book Outlet (in all honesty, I think they sent it by accident because I didn’t order it signed). I have to have this one for my shelves and I’ve heard only great things about this series!

Wow, lucky you. I am kicking myself for not going to the Obsidio book signing last week. Just too far to drive and too tired after work:-(

  3. That cover is SO stunning! I haven’t started the series yet and barely know what it’s about but the cover alone makes me super tempted to try it.

  4. It has such an amaazzzzing cover! Saw the cover reveal recently on twitter and gazed at it for a solid 30 minutes (okay. slight exaggeration). Would you consider this his better series as a solo writer? 😮

    • Tammy

Ha ha, it is definitely gaze-worthy:-) I think he’s all around a great writer, he’s good both solo and with Amie Kaufman.

  5. I read the first one, but I haven’t yet got around to the second 0ne – good to see the third book is on its way:). Thank you for sharing, Tammy:)

It’s so hard to keep all the series going, I guess we just focus on the ones that really grab us:-)

  6. Whoa, nice cover. I remember seeing Neverknight around when it came out and being kinda meh about it, but I don’t know- after seeing reviews I’m starting to think maybe I wanna try this series?

He is busy! You’re right, another author that I marvel at for keeping all his different series straight!
