Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine, and is a fun way to share upcoming books you’re excited about with other bloggers and readers. I really loved Kate Karyus Quinn’s first book, Another Little Piece, and I’m looking forward to this one, especially because the story just sounds so good. Check it out:
Down with the Shine by Kate Karyus Quinn. Releases in April 2016 from HarperTeen. First, I’m loving this cover! And here’s what Goodreads says:
There’s a reason they say “be careful what you wish for.” Just ask the girl who wished to be thinner and ended up smaller than Thumbelina, or the boy who asked for “balls of steel” and got them-literally. And never wish for your party to go on forever. Not unless you want your guests to be struck down by debilitating pain if they try to leave.
These are things Lennie only learns when it’s too late-after she brings some of her uncles’ moonshine to a party and toasts to dozens of wishes, including a big wish of her own: to bring back her best friend, Dylan, who was abducted and murdered six months ago.
Lennie didn’t mean to cause so much chaos. She always thought her uncles’ moonshine toast was just a tradition. And when they talked about carrying on their “important family legacy,” she thought they meant good old-fashioned bootlegging.
As it turns out, they meant granting wishes. And Lennie has just granted more in one night than her uncles would grant in a year.
Now she has to find a way to undo the damage. But once granted, a wish can’t be unmade…
Have you heard of this one? Let me know what you’re waiting on:-D
This sounds AMAZING. I had never heard of it before, but I do think her first novel sounds really good as well. Thanks so much for sharing!
My WOW this week is actually over here: http://www.letsgetbeyondtolerance.blogspot.com

Now that is some powerful moonshine XD I may a keep an eye out to see wha people say about this. Also, the only way I can think to describe that color blue in the bottle is magical.
Hey, this looks SO good!! The plot is definitely a unique twist on the fairy tale trope of wish-granting. And with moonshine, too! Now that’s a new one.
I agree with you on the cover — LOVE it! It’s great to discover new and unusual reads. Thanks for bringing this one to my attention, so I can fatten up my TBR some more! Lol. Happy Reading!! : )

I know, I was a little startled by the “moonshine” story line, but I’m really intrigued:-)
Wow. I have not seen this one. I agree that cover is great and it does sound really interesting. Thanks for sharing it!

I like the cover. And it’s sounds interesting to look at the problem of wishes gone wrong from the perspective of the granter rather than solely the one who made the wish.

Okay, never heard of this book, but the description sounded way too cool and it made me chuckle a little to see something like moonshine as the central basis for a novel idea.

I’ve not heard of this one, and yes! It does sound very good! 🙂 And gave me some amusement because moonshine seems to be the new “in” thing, with fancy moonshine drinks aplenty. At least ’round these parts.

I have not heard that about moonshine! Ha ha, I guess it hasn’t made its way to California yet;-)
Snap! This was my pick this week too, I couldn’t resist the cover and I love the idea of drinking moonshine to be granted a wish 🙂
Second time I’m seeing this one today. I hope you enjoy it. It looks good! My WOW

I really enjoyed Another Little Piece too (haven’t read her 2nd one… got an ARC but I was terrible and have yet to make time for it) but THIS one is definitely on my TBR. Sounds fascinating! Great pick. 🙂
this sounds way creepy…I get why you’d want your friend back but this….I can’t even type it down. My tiny hairs just stood up HAHAHA
