Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine, and is a fun way to share upcoming books that you’re excited about with other bloggers and readers. I just stumbled upon this book last week, thanks to Cover Snark, and I’m always up for good circus story:
Menagerie by Rachel Vincent. Releases in September from Mira. I haven’t read anything by Rachel Vincent yet, but I know she’s pretty popular. I don’t think there’s anything supernatural about this story, but it sounds dark enough for me! (according to Goodreads):
When Delilah Marlow visits a famous traveling carnival, Metzger’s Menagerie, she is an ordinary woman in a not-quite-ordinary world. But under the macabre circus black-top, she discovers a fierce, sharp-clawed creature lurking just beneath her human veneer. Captured and put on exhibition, Delilah in her black swan burlesque costume is stripped of her worldly possessions, including her own name, as she’s forced to “perform” in town after town.
But there is breathtaking beauty behind the seamy and grotesque reality of the carnival. Gallagher, her handler, is as kind as he is cryptic and strong. The other “attractions”—mermaids, minotaurs, gryphons and kelpies—are strange, yes, but they share a bond forged by the brutal realities of captivity. And as Delilah struggles for her freedom, and for her fellow menagerie, she’ll discover a strength and a purpose she never knew existed.
Renowned author Rachel Vincent weaves an intoxicating blend of carnival magic and startling humanity in this intricately woven and powerful tale.
Have you read anything by Rachel Vincent? Let me know what you’re waiting on:-D
Uh-oh, Metyger’s Menagerie? Metzger means butcher in German…I think I know what’s going to happen. 🙂 Looks interesting.

I’ve been anticipating this one for a while, but this is actually the first time I’ve seen the cover! I like it; it’s got more of a serious, toned-down vibe from RV’s previous covers. Mostly I’ve read her YA stuff, but I’ve liked a couple of her adult works as well. I like usually like Mira books because they’ve got that whole “fantasy romance” vibe that I like, so hopefully this one’s a winner!

I think this cover was just revealed. I’m glad to know about the “fantasy romance” vibe, definitely something I’m in the mood for:-)
I LOVE the sound of this one. I read the first in her Soul Screamers series but never picked up the rest… will definitely be picking this one up though.
I have loved everything I’ve read by Rachel Vincent, but I didn’t know about this book until now. Thanks for sharing it! I’m definitely adding this book to my TBR. I hope your enjoy reading it!

This is completely new to me, but it sounds interesting! I don’t know if I’m up for another carnival/circus book though, they seem to be growing in popularity lately. I do love the minimalist style of the cover!
