The nitty-gritty: Lady and Lord Riven have one last magical adventure in this exciting conclusion to Stephanie Burgis’s lively historical fantasy series. As far as I know, this is the last book in Stephanie Burgis’ delightful Lady & Lord Riven series, and I’m very sad! The author has created a fascinating fantasy world full of […]
The nitty-gritty: Filled with memorable characters, enchanting creatures and a touch of romance, Sea of Charms offers thrilling adventures and feel-good emotional moments. Sea of Charms is the third book in Sarah Best Durst’s interconnected series of cozy fantasy romances, and you can definitely read this as a standalone (in my opinion, it doesn’t really […]
The nitty-gritty: A modern fairy tale that embraces the idea of “cooking is magic,” The Farewitch of Foxe Holler is a delightful, feel good fantasy with wonderfully relatable characters and plenty of Southern charm. “If a recipe goes wrong, embrace it and eat the surprise. If a recipe goes really wrong, start over and learn. […]
The nitty-gritty: The perfect antidote to action-heavy fantasy, The Inn at the Foot of Mount Vengeance has surprising depth, well drawn characters, and a nice found family vibe. “Climbing a mountain is more than simply striving for the peak, Ainsworth.” For a book that got off to a very shaky start, I was surprised by […]
The nitty-gritty: Cottagecore meets The Lord of the Rings in this entertaining but slightly uneven debut. I couldn’t resist this adorable cover, which I’ll admit is one reason I wanted to read How to Lose a Goblin in Ten Days. And it was cute! There are also some rather weighty themes hovering over all the […]
The nitty-gritty: Dark and romantic, Tea & Alchemy excels with its Gothic setting and intriguing mystery. I call Sharon Lynn Fisher the Queen of Vibes, and in her latest book, the vibes are off the charts! Tea & Alchemy is full of both cozy and Gothic elements, a combination that works perfectly for Sharon’s style. […]
The nitty-gritty: A powerful grimoire is the catalyst for this magical, funny, feel-good fantasy. “Olive wore black sunglasses and a black trench coat over another completely black outfit. I wondered briefly what her closet looked like. I suspect it was like a small black hole. She could reach in and pull out anything, knowing it […]
The nitty-gritty: A bite-sized cozy fantasy with plenty of heart, A Honeymoon of Grave Consequence brings together folklore, friendships, and a touch of romance. Stephanie Burgis has written another delightful entry in her cozy supernatural series, and I can’t get enough of these characters. The basic set up is that Margaret and Lord Riven were […]
The nitty-gritty: Sarah Beth Durst revisits the world of The Spellshop in this magical, cozy and emotionally satisfying companion novel. “Behind her, Rijes let out a small gasp as she beheld the bookshelves–it was the sound of a woman who didn’t expect to find happiness but discovered it anyway. Terlu knew that sound well.” I […]
The nitty-gritty: Cats, cozy fantasy and time travel combine in this delightful witchy feel-good romance. I was expecting An Ancient Witch’s Guide to Modern Dating to be a cute rom-com, but I didn’t expect it to have so much heart and emotion. I ended up falling head over heels for Thorn, Walls and all the […]
