I promised a giveaway of Ink and Bone, and here it is! I read and absolutely LOVED Ink and Bone last year (read my review here), and the sequel, Paper and Fire, releases next month. I couldn’t be more excited to find out what happens next, and to celebrate, NAL is kindly offering one copy […]
The nitty-gritty: Another clever, uproariously funny entry into the Sin du Jour series, with even more non-stop action and supernatural craziness. “Tag, you know ‘half-and-half’ is a pejorative use of an ableist term,” Jett chastises. “Both the minotaur contingent and the centaur contingent find it highly offensive—” “Oh-my-god-Jett-whatever,” Dorsky groans. “They’re a bunch of dudes […]
Welcome to What’s On My Plate, my monthly post where I attempt to organize my reading and blogging life:-) Another month has flown by and we’re nearly half way through the year already! How can that be? This month I’ve got an overwhelming amount of review books on tap, and so this post is more […]
The nitty-gritty: A dreamy and magical story about fairy tales, real and imagined. Happily ever after is the dropping of a curtain, a signal for applause. It is not a guarantee, and it always has a price. From the moment I saw this darkly atmospheric cover, I knew I had to read Roses and Rot. […]
The nitty-gritty: A twisty plot full of zombies, ghosts, murders, magic and mayhem, darkly atmospheric with Charish’s special brand of snarky humor. The way Cameron’s pupils focused on me, part of him still had to be in there. There was no way he was a four-line, permit-friendly zombie—the temporary kind you were still allowed to […]

Welcome to Over-Booked, my “couple times a month” post where I share my most recent book acquisitions. I’m linking up with Stacking the Shelves at Tynga’s Reviews and The Sunday Post at The Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Nice, light book haul today, which is great, since I’m SO far behind with review books! Physical books for […]
The nitty-gritty: Sexism and feminism collide in a strange but likable tale about a grim message from the future and the young woman who is determined to try to make things right. It is beyond me to be calm, even though this is a ridiculous piece of whimsy that I did not care for just […]
The nitty-gritty: A fascinating concept, political intrigue, plenty of mysteries, but written in a format that might not work for every reader. I love reading hyped books like Sleeping Giants, because I like to form my own opinions. Sleeping Giants has received all sorts of starred reviews from review journals, but in the blogging community, […]
The nitty-gritty: Intricate and otherworldly, emotional and thought provoking, Tidhar’s vision of the future is both familiar and alien at the same time. With each season a new godling appeared in the streets and alleyways of Central Station. They were nebulous things, more than human, less than Other, like semi-sentient sculptures which straddles both the […]
I just counted the books I’ve reviewed in the past two months, and I’m horrified with myself. How can I call myself a book blogger?? It’s been a very “real life” heavy few months, and reading/blogging has had to take a backseat to other things. I hope I can get back to the kind of […]
