The nitty-gritty: Exquisite writing and magical worldbuilding made this a reading experience I won’t soon forget. Lussadh turns on the heating and listens to the ghosts murmur, a low purr that thrums through walls and ebony boards. Shamans–alchemists of the spirit–can hear and understand their chatter, it is said, the secrets of the dead. If […]
The nitty-gritty: This story had some wonderfully magical elements and compelling characters, but as a whole it didn’t quite work for me. “You were a mermaid, weren’t you? That’s what Nadya said.” “I still am,” said Cora. “I just have my scales under my skin for now.” It pains me to admit that I didn’t […]
‘Tis the season for making promises I won’t be able to keep! I mean, let’s start the new year off on a positive note! I’m not very good at sticking to reading challenges for an entire year, but I always get excited in the beginning of the year anyway. This year is no exception. I’m […]
The nitty-gritty: A fun and character-driven debut, fans of Star Wars will find much to love in this fast-paced space opera. In Michael Moreci’s afterward to his fun and furious debut, he unabashedly calls Black Star Renegades his “love letter to Star Wars,” and it shows. It’s easy to make your way through the story […]
Happy New Year, everyone! I have a good feeling about 2018, especially when it comes to my reading plans. There are SO many books I’m already looking forward to, and I can’t wait to get started! I’m actually a little bit ahead this month, as I’ve already read two of my January review books, which […]
I feel very lucky to have a copy of this beautiful book in my hands. Gregory Manchess is first and foremost a very talented artist, but I’m grateful he decided to step out of his comfort zone and write a story to go along with his amazing artwork. According to the publisher’s notes, there are […]
I’m happy to be participating in the Midwinter’s Eve Giveaway Hop, hosted by Mary at Bookhounds! I don’t do hops very often anymore, but I like to do one at the end of the year, and this year I’m offering one international winner the choice of any of my favorite books of the year! I […]
It’s time! After nearly twelve months of reading as much as possible, I’m happy to put forth my “best of” list for your consideration! I didn’t read nearly as much as I wanted, but I sure had an amazing time when I was able to read. This year I’m NOT limiting myself to only ten […]
The nitty-gritty: Clever, scary, entertaining and well written, Kill Creek is a slick and polished debut. With each new Inkshares book I read, I become more and more impressed with the quality of not only the writing, but the complete package. I was lucky enough to get a finished paperback copy of Kill Creek from […]

Welcome to Over-Booked, where I share my latest and greatest book acquisitions! I’m linking up with Stacking the Shelves over at Tynga’s Reviews and The Sunday Post at The Caffeinated Book Reviewer. So, I’ve been sort of absent this past week, mostly due to my daughter’s Holiday Spectacular choir show last weekend, which literally sucked up […]
