The nitty-gritty: Another winning story in the Heartstone series, I was once again enchanted by White’s lively storytelling and wonderful world-building elements. One of my favorite things about Heartstone, the first book in White’s Pride & Prejudice fantasy retelling, was the world building. I’m a big P&P fan, but those elements are not what won […]
And here we are, the end of the year…how did this happen? It seems like just yesterday I was making reading goals for 2018 (which we won’t talk about because big fail!). But I actually like December on the blog, because I use it mostly as a “catch up” month, since I don’t usually have […]

The nitty-gritty: Tidhar’s latest is a challenging but ultimately satisfying read that deals with histories, both real and imagined. Reading a Lavie Tidhar book is like being in a fever dream. Well, this was a strange little book, but I enjoyed it! I had never heard of Broken Eye Books until the author got in touch with me. And when […]
The nitty-gritty: A slow-paced beginning turns into thrilling excitement at the end, which makes up for some of the more tedious sections. I’ll admit that when I first saw the cover of Breach, I thought it was science fiction. Maybe that’s why I feel like I got off on the wrong foot with this book. […]

Warning: Spoilers ahead! If you have any desire to read this book, it’s best to skip this review, as there is no way I can review this book without spoilers. I’ll admit when The Rule of One was pitched to me, I was wary of its twin sister writing team. Books with dual authors often […]
